126th Oberon ShowFebruary 19, 2026 Oberon didn't turn on its best weather for the 126th running of the Oberon Show, with cloudy skies and the constant threat (and sometimes delivery) of rain. That didn't keep the crowds away and everyone there looked like they were having a good time. There weren't as many sideshows as usual, but this was probably caused by a number of regional shows happening on the same weekend. There are only 52 weekends in a year and many of them are taken over by other events, so clashes are inevitable and carneys have to be constantly making decisions about where to go to next. Still, that didn't spoil the fun. There were jumping castles, a medieval battle with what looked like real swords, the SES challenging people to be lifted up into the sky, sheep shearing, dog trials, displays of agricultural equipment, competitions to find the best photographs, wool clips, flowers, chooks, cattle and cakes. There was fairy floss to eat, animals to look at (including a funnel web spider at Me & Zoo! Look, but don't touch.), a fire fighting demonstration, a race between people in inflatable suits (nothing weird about that) and most of the other things you find at regional shows and markets. Oberon Matters was there pointing the camera at things. It wasn't possible to take a picture of absolutely everything that went on during the day but that's what Facebook community groups are for. You can see some photos from the Oberon Pony Club here and O'Connell Public School here. You can see a slideshow of the day's photos in the video below, or just scroll through the photos yourself.
