Gingerbread village update

December 12, 2024

When Oberon Matters went out to take photos of the gingerbread people along O'Connell Road, there were 94 cutouts. Ten days later there were more than 300. As this project is a major fundraiser for the O'Connell Public School P&C it has to be declared to be an extremely successful success.

There was a brief break in the music at the Fish River Festival to update everyone on the progress.

P&C President Vanessa Lavelle was more than a little pleased with the result.
A short cowboy helped with her speech.

Someone was heard to ask "What is the collective noun for a group of politicians?". Answers ranged from "problem", "plague", "pestilence" and "nuisance" to even less flattering terms, but as all the local politicians had turned up and had nice things to say everyone decided to be polite.

The winners in the competition will be announced shortly. (See here)

And over at the O'Connell Recreation Ground there was a cricket match in progress. There was even a streaker.
