This week's sport

March 28, 2024

The Oberon United Wolves had much better weather this week for their "kick around" day, and a lot of youngsters turned up to practise their dribbling and kicking skills.

Kids' soccer has almost the highest number of players of any sport played in and around Oberon (hockey might be a challenger) and it's good to see so many out there having fun. Soccer is a great game for very young children as it carries far less danger to developing bodies than sports which involve contact. (Not that there isn't contact in some of the senior leagues - just look at the way some players collapse on the field.)

Despite the turnout on the day, more players are needed (and their parents to act as officials, of course).

A lot of fun

The real competitions start after Easter, but all registrations are still open. Extra numbers are needed to form under 10, 11,12 and 13 teams, so please register ASAP.

The final scores

On Sunday there was another great turnout as a follow up to our Give Golf a Go clinic. 21 ladies played a 6 hole Ambrose. Lots of laughs. The next game is planned for Sunday April 7 at 1.30pm. Please email us at oberongolf@gmail.com if you would like to Give Golf a Go. Also bring along a friend who you think would like to join us.
