Busy times at the local schools - Part 1 April 3, 2025
Hampton Public School It is birthday month at Hampton! We wish a very happy 10th birthday to Dominic. More cake, anyone?
Kindergarten and Year 1 students joined with our friends from Cullen Bullen to watch a performance of Eric Carle's classic children's book "The Very Hungry Caterpillar". This was on show in Bathurst. It included three of his other books as well, so there were plenty of animal puppets to keep us entertained. Our favourite was the caterpillar, of course!
St Joseph's Catholic School We were incredibly proud of our students for their outstanding performance and enthusiastic participation at the Rugby League Gala Day in Lithgow. It was a fantastic day filled with teamwork, determination and great sportsmanship. Our students showed incredible skill, effort, and resilience, giving their best in every match. More importantly, they played with respect and teamwork, representing our school with pride. A huge congratulations to all the players for their hard work and positive attitude! I particularly thank the students for being so inclusive of the 3 boys from St Joseph's Portland who joined us on the day. Many thanks to trainer Bill Holmes and parent supporters who cheered from the sidelines and helped make the day a success. A special congratulations to Jaxon Corby and Tyson McDermott who were awarded Players Player Awards on the day.
Our Year 5/6 students had the exciting opportunity to attend the Grip Leadership Conference in Bathurst, a day filled with inspiration, learning and motivation. The conference brought together young leaders from schools across the region to develop their skills in communication, teamwork, resilience and decision-making. They explored the importance of leading with kindness, taking initiative and making a positive impact both within our school and the wider community. A powerful message for the students was "Leadership is not about having a title, but about inspiring others through actions.” Our students left feeling empowered and eager to put their new skills into practice.
Our Kindergarten Students enjoyed their very first excursion with a trip on the school bus to Bathurst to see the live performance of “A Very Hungry Caterpillar”. It sure was an exciting time!
What an incredible term it has been in Year 5! Our students have embraced every challenge with enthusiasm and determination. This term, our Year 5 students have been immersed in the world of Roz the Robot from our class novel “A Wild Robot”. This book has sparked some fantastic discussions and the students have loved diving into the characters' adventures! Maths this term has been full of puzzles, challenges and real-world problem-solving! Students have thoroughly enjoyed exploring whole numbers and fractions & decimals, discovering how these concepts apply to everyday life. Their multiplication skills are put to the test each day as they compete daily speed challenges. Our History lessons are taking us on an adventure through ‘Australian History'. Students continue to ask thought-provoking questions and are developing a deeper understanding of the world around them. We have all been particularly interested in learning about a local Bushranger “John Foley”. We are certainly looking forward to taking a visit to his local area of Black Springs and seeing his grave site. In Sport, Year 5 students have showcased their energy, teamwork, and sportsmanship in a range of activities. A major highlight was the Football Gala Day, where students gave their all and had an unforgettable experience on the field! This term all class members have shown great care and concern for each other and have worked with resilience and responsibility. Seeing the students support and encourage each other—whether in the classroom, on the sports field, or during school events—has been truly encouraging! As we wrap up this term, we look forward to even more exciting learning experiences ahead! We can't wait to continue this journey of discovery, creativity, and success together! Well done, Year 5 – you need to be incredibly proud of your hard work and achievements! Mrs Hayden and Mr Brown
Creative Community Concepts St Joseph's students thoroughly enjoyed a visit from us with a special guest, Ashton Sims (former Rugby League great) to learn the importance of mental wellbeing and what it means to be mentally fit. Such a great opportunity for these kids to hear real life stories from people like Ashton who delivers powerful messages for these kids.
