This book not only lets you see what the sketches in the plates on the wall are like, but includes a comprehensive story about each picture and the person featured. After sixty years of service, Peter Ryan hangs up his helmet August 29, 2024 in Community and People On Sunday, August 25, Oberon turned out for Peter Ryan's last day as a fireman. Attended by local dignitaries, senior officials from Fire and Rescue NSW and the Union, the FRNSW Band, representatives of the other emergency services and a large number of well-wishers, the event was a fitting send off for someone who has devoted his life to serving the people of Oberon. Australia Day 2024 in Oberon February 1, 2024, in Community and People About 230 residents packed out the Oberon Community Centre for the 2024 Australia Day celebrations. The event was preceded by a community morning tea, capably organised by the Oberon Junior Hockey teams, with entertainment supplied by the U3A ukulele group.
The formal proceedings started with an Acknowledgement of Country by Elloura Nielsen, followed by the unfurling of the Australian Flag by the Kathy Sajowitz, the outgoing Citizen of the Year. Everyone then joined in the singing of the National Anthem, beautifully led by Lyn Hancox, followed by an address on the meaning of the day by Australia Day Ambassador, Peter McLean....
