About the photos

Photos of children on the Internet
August 6, 2026 in General News, Schools and Sport

It's a tragedy of our times that anything can be abused by perverts. The latest is that AI systems are being used to exploit photos of children by removing clothing or putting other heads on bodies. The world's largest pornography site, PornHub, recently banned one of their advertisers who was paying a million dollars a year to advertise AI-generated child porn. That company is Australian. Elon Musk is threatening to sue a US state because it has banned Musk's Grok AI for the ease with which it can be used to produce images of naked children. Musk claims this is an infringement of free speech, a statement that renders sane people speechless.

Legitimate search engines are blocked from indexing any images on this site but it is almost impossible to prevent web site content from being scavenged by AI robots and the only alternative is to not publish photos, so over the next few weeks I will be going through all the sports and school reports on the site and removing any photos in which kids can be identified. (This tiny and obscure site is continually trawled by AI bots, although all except ChatGPT try to remain anonymous. The papers published by Nine Entertainment are currently being hit 30,000,000 times a month by AI content thieves. It is work for several people just to try to keep up with the blocking.)

The two articles below from The Conversation address the danger of putting your kids' photos online.

Oberon Netball Club

The weekend that was.

Round 12 of netball for the Oberon Netball Club last Saturday!

U12s girls were back and had a wonderful win 23 - 3 and moved up to third on the ladder. This week the little pocket rocket Tahlia was named Player of the Match!

Our U16s had a Bye this week, and will be well rested for the next round.

The Seniors had two games this week and played amazing but unfortunately did not come away with a win. We unfortunately also had a player go down in the first game played and we are all hoping for a speedy recovery. Congratulations to Ashleigh for taking out Player of the Match on Saturday and Stephanie for being named Player of the match on Sunday.

Work has started on the reconstruction of our problematic 16th green! A big thank you to our Club Captain Laurie, Club President Scratch and Greenkeeper Chris for putting in the hard yards to get the work underway. We're looking forward to seeing the 16th back in top shape and playing its best again soon.

In the latest instalment of "our people" today it is Daryl Kelly's turn. He is, of course, known to you already. Daryl has now been the club manager for over 3 years and what a change he as made. The vibrant club house, bustling restaurant and general welcoming feel of our club can be credited to him. Behind the scenes Daryl has made a significant difference to the club's financial well being. He has introduced many innovations and successfully found us new sponsors all contributing to the increase in income the club has achieved over the last few years. Once an aspiring pro golfer, his enthusiasm for the game has not waned. Always happy to provide a tip about your game or helpful advice about our course his welcoming nature is a credit to him and a benefit to our club. Thanks Daz!

Words thanks to John Levy

Netball Gala Day

Thank you so much to all parents/carers, students and staff who took the time to stand in the cold on Tuesday at the Bathurst Netball Gala Day. It turned out to be a fantastic day with a bunch of great social games being played. There was great encouragement from our Joey's students for each other's teams throughout the day, the improvement from Game 1 to the end was incredible and the determination from our students was a privilege to watch. Thank you to the parents who jumped in and helped umpire on the day as well! It was greatly appreciated. Let's pray for better weather next year!
