The sporting continuesApril 16, 2026
The new season kicked off this weekend with contrasting results for our local men's and women's soccer teams, showcasing both the promise and challenges ahead. The men's side delivered a dominant performance in their season opener, storming to an emphatic 8-0 victory. From the first whistle, they controlled possession and set the tempo, creating chances with ease and capitalising clinically in front of goal. The attacking unit proved relentless, while the defence remained solid and composed, keeping a clean sheet and rarely allowing the opposition any opportunity to settle. It was a statement win that sets a strong tone for the season ahead. In contrast, the women's team faced a tougher outing, going down 2-0 in their opening match. Despite the result, there were positive signs throughout the game, with the team showing resilience and determination against a well-organised opponent. While they were unable to convert their chances, their effort and structure suggest they will be competitive as the season progresses. Oberon Pony Club As well as opening the new club house, the Pony Club had a bit of action out there on the field.
