Too much sport is never enoughAugust 7, 2025
The Tigers put on a show on Saturday for our old boys and ladies day. The weather certainly turned on in true Oberon style. The ladies finished off their season on a high with a great win and our men are off to the SEMI FINALS Congratulations to both teams on a successful day. Thanks for coming Peak Hill Roosters Rugby League Club and all the best. League Tag Players player: Makayla Taggart Men's Grade Players player: Abel Lefaoseu
Oberon Junior Rugby League Round 11 Wrap Up Under 6s Under 7s It was a cold morning, but the Oberon Tigers Under 7s came out firing in their second last round of the season against Bathurst St Pats Grey. The team showed excellent teamwork, working together to keep the opposition at bay with strong tackles and solid defence. The boys also crossed the line for some great tries, making it a fantastic all-round performance. A massive shoutout to all our Oberon Tigers teams - from the Under 6s right through to the men's and women's senior teams - who all came away with wins over the weekend. What a great effort across the club! Howard's Auto and Electrical Player of the Match went to Heath Bartkowiak for his outstanding effort on the field. Well done, Heath! Under 9s Our Under 9s made the trip back to Bathurst this week, determined to keep our undefeated season alive - and they delivered once again with a dominant 12 tries to 5 win! Despite the miserable weather, the energy from the team was electric right from the warm-up. The boys ran hard, tackled in numbers, and brought exactly the effort and teamwork we spoke about before the game. It was a performance to be proud of. Howard's Auto Electrical Players of the Week were awarded to two standout Tigers:
Just one more game remains in our incredible season. A huge shoutout to the entire Oberon Tigers community - every team from our Under 6s right up to the Men's side walked away with wins this weekend. Under 11s It was a tough day out on the field with wet, freezing conditions, but the team dug deep and stuck it out from start to finish. Every single player showed grit, determination, and great team spirit despite the weather. This week, the whole team earns Player of the Week for pushing through and putting on a solid performance in such tough conditions. Well done, legends! We have one game left for the season. And I know they will finish strong. Under 13s The Oberon Tigers/Bathurst Panthers U13s played their final home game of the regular season over the weekend, taking on the Mudgee Dragons in icy, wet conditions - and delivered a performance that was anything but cold. Despite the rain, wind, and freezing temperatures, the team came out firing and never took their foot off the gas, finishing with a dominant 54-4 win. The conditions may have been tough, but the boys showed maturity, discipline, and heart beyond their years to come away with the decisive victory. What made the result even more impressive was the number of key players missing due to injury. With multiple regulars sidelined, it was a true test of the squad's depth and character - and they passed with flying colours. Every player rose to the challenge, executing the game plan with precision and supporting each other on both attack and defence. From the opening whistle, the Tigers/Panthers controlled possession and maintained relentless pressure on the Mudgee defence. Their communication, support play, and commitment to the team-first mentality was on full display. The forwards laid the platform up the middle, while the backs showed slick handling and speed out wide to rack up the points. Defensively, the boys were just as impressive. Mudgee had few opportunities to build momentum, with the Tigers/Panthers repelling most attacking sets with strong tackles and great line speed. Their only try came late in the game when the result was already well out of reach. This win not only capped off a successful home campaign, but also underlined the growth and development the team has shown throughout the season. With just one regular season game remaining, the boys are hitting form at the right time and will be looking to carry this momentum into the finals series. A big thank you goes out to the supporters who braved the cold to cheer the boys on. The spirit shown by this group - both on and off the field - is something the whole Oberon and Bathurst community can be proud of. One game to go - let's finish strong! Under 14s League Tag And they didn't disappoint. From the opening whistle, the girls played with confidence, teamwork and determination, finishing their season on a high. Shoutout to Amelia for getting over the line again and a big congratulations to Kiana for scoring her first try of the season with an impressive run down the sideline! We're so proud of every single one of the girls-not only for their improvement each week, but for their commitment all season long. For many, this was their first ever season of League Tag and for others, they bravely played up two age groups. You've all done yourselves and your club proud-well done, girls!
