Oberon Junior Rugby League

Round 8

U6s
The mighty under 6s Tigers had another great game in Eglington against the Bathurst Panthers, and are showing improvement every single week, particularly in their defence. With some great runs from Charlie and Ivy, some elusive footwork from Leo and Quaden and some fantastic tagging from Zeke, every player had a great game, however Jenson Corby was electric with the ball scoring some great tries and earning our Howard's Auto and Mechanical player of the week!

U7s
Oberon Tigers U7s vs Bathurst Panthers Silver Saturday, 28th June The Oberon Tigers U7s took to the field on Saturday with determination and heart, putting in a stellar performance against Bathurst Panthers Silver. From the opening whistle, it was clear the Tigers were eager to show how much they've been learning at training. The match was filled with excellent teamwork, with players working together seamlessly in both attack and defense. The Tigers' tackling was strong and confident, halting Panthers' advances and turning defense into opportunity. Their effort in defense was a real highlight - disciplined, focused, and full of courage. On the attack, the Tigers showed great flair and teamwork, linking up beautifully to score some impressive tries. Each player contributed, and the whole team should be proud of the way they supported one another on and off the ball. It was truly a team performance with every player stepping up, but Howard's Auto and Electrical Player of the Match went to Mason Costa, whose energy, effort, and skill stood out across the game. Great work, Tigers - your hard work at training is really showing on the field!

U9s
Round 8 - Oberon Tigers vs Bathurst Panthers Silver Location: Eglinton This weekend our Tigers travelled to a chilly and fog-covered Eglinton for an early 9am kick-off against Bathurst Panthers Silver. We had a slower start than usual, but as the game went on, the team found their rhythm and began playing the strong, determined footy we've come to expect this season. The defensive effort across the park was particularly pleasing, with standout performances from Cooper Sutton, Ruby King, and Jarrod Bartkowiak, who all put their bodies on the line to keep the Panthers at bay. A big congratulations to Ollie Christie Johnson, who scored his first try of the season - and the opening try of the match! After taking out Player of the Match last week, Ollie backed it up again today with another impressive performance. Well done, mate! The match ended in a thrilling 11-try all draw, a testament to the effort and spirit both teams brought to the field. This week's Howard's Auto and Electrical Player of the Match goes to Riley Orenshaw, who absolutely starred. Riley ran hard, tackled even harder, and continues to impress with his weekly improvement. Outstanding game, Riley - keep it up!

U11s
Round 8 seen the under 11s play at home in the frost this weekend against the Blayney Bears We came out strong with some great defence. A lot of great runs resulting in some great tries. All the kids were freezing but coming away with a 46-12 win made it all worth it. This weeks player of with week goes to Brax Booth for his great game of defences getting in and completing a heap of tackles.

U13s
The under 13s had a bye this week.

U14s League Tag
Round 8 had our U14s League Tag girls heading to Orange to take on Orange CYMS with a full team! We came out firing, leading in the first half and matching the opposition in what was a physical and hard-fought game. The work at training really showed, especially our focus on line speed, with the girls pushing up in defence and applying pressure all game. While the final score saw us go down 24-14, the effort was outstanding, nothing was left on the field. The team is continuing to grow each week, and the improvement across the board is clear to see. Shoutout to Tess, Sophie and Molly for stepping up big time with confident tags and fearless efforts against the opposition. Keep it up, girls, you're getting closer every week!
