Round 5 Wrap up

U6s
The under 6s had another successful game against St Pats, and are really showing improvements each week. With some great long range tries and teamwork there were plenty of highlights, but a big shout out to Charlie Bailey for scoring a barnstorming first try of the game, and to Ashton for earning a well deserved player of the match.

Match Report Round 5 - St Pat's Blue. It was a cold foggy morning out at St Pat's but that didn't worry our up and coming Tigers. This weekend we worked on holding our defensive line with the referee. It didn't take to long and they had a good straight line and were even sliding to number up players. Our attack was very strong as always with some full length of the field tries, but what I was most excited about was we scored a few tries through passing in play. This week's play of the match thanks to Howards Auto & Electrical goes to Benji Newstead Congratulations.

U9s
Under 9s Match Report – Oberon vs Lithgow Storm. Our Under 9s team faced off against a very strong Lithgow Storm side in Bathurst today, and what a match it was! This week at training, we focused on a few key areas to help improve our game, and it was incredibly pleasing to see the kids take those lessons onto the field and execute them so well. Their effort and commitment made a huge difference and really showed in the way we played. The game ended in a hard-fought draw, with four tries apiece. But what stood out most today was our defensive effort. The team tackled in numbers, backed each other up on every play, and showed real determination in defence. This week’s Player of the Match went to Skylah. From the very first whistle, her hard running and strong tackling kept us in the contest. Her improvement from her first training session to now has been fantastic, and we’re so proud of the player she’s becoming. Well done to all the kids - great effort!

U11s
The under 11s went down again this week. Missing a few playing who were sick and some showing up late saw them playing with only 12 for majority of the first half. Although they were low on numbers and the frost was still laying on the ground the team dug deep and tried their best! A lot of drop ball meant a lot more tackling than was needed but then some weeks happen! Two solid weeks of training before our next game and hopefully we can start getting a few more Ws on the board! Special mention to Harry and Jaxon who played their hearts out and made about a million tackles between them. Taking out the players of the week

U13s
MATCH REPORT: U13s ON FIRE! The Oberon Tigers/Bathurst Panthers U13s have delivered their best performance of the 2025 season with a dominant 54-6 win over Bloomfield! From the opening whistle, the boys showed incredible grit, discipline, and team spirit. Their structure in both attack and defence looked more like a first-grade side than a junior team - a credit to their character and growing confidence week by week. Every player did their job, backed each other up, and played unselfish, team-first footy. Tries were scored all over the park, but more importantly, it was the way they worked together that truly stood out. With performances like this, the sky's the limit for this talented young group. We can’t wait to see how far they’ll go this season!

U14s
League Tag. What a ripper of a day for Round 5 as our U14s League Tag girls travelled to Wallerawang to take on their home team. The sun was out, we had close to a full team with five subs and the girls were fired up and ready to play. We came out strong in the first half, leading with consistent defence, great confidence in our plays and running onto the ball with purpose. The second half started just as strong, but a few small errors saw the opposition sneak ahead. Despite the result, 26-22, the girls held their heads high and showed how far they’ve come. A huge shoutout to Amelia and Cattleya for their incredible efforts, both running nearly the length of the field to score under the posts! The team is really starting to click and their hard work at training is paying off!

We welcomed some new members today. Ellie, Jimmi, Allira, Sierra, Olivia and Sienna as well as our adult rider, Liz. Our riders practised one rein stops and grid work. Then the horse ball came out after lunch, which was an enjoyable new experience to everyone who participated. Next Rally day is 6th July. Planning a trail ride in the Black Springs area. An equine dentist will also be attending to give us some insight into dental care for horses.

Sorry, Oberon Matters didn't manage to get to the Juniors match for photos. That old "two places at once" problem.
