A beautiful day of footy on Sunday with another mixed result. Our ladies league tag unfortunately didn't come home with a win however our boys did, with a very close game. Congratulations boys! Thanks for having us Canowindra Tigers Senior Rugby League Football Club and all the best for the rest of the reason.
NSW Yard Dog Championships Between everything else, Oberon Matters had to squeeze in a visit to the Yard Dog Championships at the Oberon Showground over the weekend. You can see a full report on the event at the Oberon Yard Dog Trial's Facebook page.
A special mention has to go to the members of the Oberon Show Committee who provided a great service cooking food. Two observations: 1. No matter how many photos you
take of a group of people, there will be no photo with everyone facing the camera
Oberon Golf Club Thursday golf results for May 8 Another good field turned up to play, boosted by visitors from Wentworth Falls golf club. The winner on a four way count back was Mitch Hoolihan with 26 points Runner up went to Mark Ryan who also won the meat tray. Balls went to visitors Steve Huxley and Murray Patterson. Nearest to the pin on the 1st was won by another visitor in Adrian Poulten.
Saturday was the Captains vs Presidents! With 61 starters. Congratulations and bragging rights for the next 12 months go to the Captains Team on 872 from the Presidents with 846. Well done. A Grade was won by Phil Cumming and the runner up was

Oberon Public School More Western Success for Tye Congratulations to Tye Newstead who has been selected for the Western Region Rugby Union Team. I believe this is the first time Oberon Public School has had a student selected for Rugby Union! Tye has a busy couple of months ahead as he has already been selected for the Western Region Rugby League team and has Western Touch Trials coming up as well. Congratulations Tye. Soccer Success Well done to Jai Hay, Aiden Odobasic and Tahlia Francis who trialled for the Bathurst District Soccer teams on Wednesday, May 7. Special congratulations to Tahlita who was selected in the Bathurst District Girls Soccer team and will now attend the Western Region Soccer Carnival later this month in Dubbo and trial for the western region team. Oberon High School Victory Unleashed! What an incredible day on the court! Our boys' and girls' teams faced off against Mudgee High School yesterday, and they absolutely dominated! Both teams emerged victorious, girls won straight sets and the boys went down to the wire, winning 2 sets to 1!
