The soccer season kicks off

April 3, 2025

Oberon United Football Club

Saturday, March 29, saw the Under 13s take to the field in less than perfect conditions at the Oberon Recreation Ground. Or put another way, it was pouring rain. Unfortunately, neither the home ground advantage nor the unpredictable local weather helped, and the team went down 1-4 to Churches United FC.

There weren't enough players to field an Under 14s team this year, but negotiations are underway to have a few of the lighter and smaller boys play down a grade to Under 13s. It would be great if this happens because it will keep the kids in the sport.

There were two matches played at the Oberon Rec Ground on Sunday, March 30.

The morning saw the All Age Med Grade 3 team up against Macquarie United. The weather might have been better that on the day before, but that didn't help the local team to a win, going down 1-2 at the final whistle.

The All Age Women Grade 2 fronted up in the afternoon against Abercrombie FC and showed the men and youngsters how to do it by coming out victorious at 3-1. The senior women's team went through the 2024 season with a 100% win record, so it looks like they are off to a good start for 2025.
