Oberon Golf Club Thursday golf results for March 27 A good turn out again. The winner was Tim Arnison with 29 points on a count back. Runner up went to Eric Whalan. Balls went to Stan Evans, Cheyne Barker, Josh Claridge, Ben Turner, Phil Cummings, Mitch Hollihan and Scott Hollihan. Nearest to the pin on the 17th was won by Cheyne Barker. Saturday, March 29, was the third round of the club championships. It was a cool and misty day but still had a good turn out. A grade was won by Kim Rawlings from runner up Darren Gordon. St Joseph's Catholic School We were incredibly proud of our students for their outstanding performance and enthusiastic participation at the Rugby League Gala Day in Lithgow. It was a fantastic day filled with teamwork, determination and great sportsmanship. Our students showed incredible skill, effort, and resilience, giving their best in every match. More importantly, they played with respect and teamwork, representing our school with pride. A huge congratulations to all the players for their hard work and positive attitude! I particularly thank the students for being so inclusive of the 3 boys from St Joseph’s Portland who joined us on the day. Many thanks to trainer Bill Holmes and parent supporters who cheered from the sidelines and helped make the day a success. A special congratulations to Jaxon Corby and Tyson McDermott who were awarded Players Player Awards on the day.
Oberon Public School Footy Frenzy 31 students from Years 3-6 travelled to Lithgow to participate in the David Peachey Russell Richardson Rugby League Gala Day. All 3 teams had a very successful day with many victories and some narrow losses. Thank you to all the parents and grandparents who came along to support us. Taya Austen l Coordinator
Terrific Touch On Friday, 5 students from Oberon Public School attended the Bathurst District touch football trials. All 5 students trialled very well. Congratulations to Maisy Christie-Johnston and Lexi Booth who were successful in making the girls team and Tye Newstead who made the boys team. These 3 students will now travel to Dubbo in June as part of the Bathurst district team and will trial for the Western Region team. Danni-Lee Thompson l Coordinator
Oberon High School Champion Rider! Sophie Stapleton made an impressive mark at the NRCHAA National Finals last week, excelling in both reining and boxing. Her standout performance, especially in reining, earned her top points and secured her a leading position among talented competitors. Thanks to consistent success throughout the year, Sophie was crowned the NRCHAA Equifund Financial Group National Finals Junior Youth Boxing Champion for 2024, riding her horse, Dual Reysponse.
