Golfers go for gold October 10, 2024
Just about the only sport happening around Oberon on the weekend of October 5 and 6 was golf, but that wasn't a surprise as nothing seems to put golfers off. Oberon Golf Club The Biggest Congratulations to Tony Ryan for his first Hole In One on the 9th hole on Thursday, October 3!! What an achievement!
And for the rest of Thursday ... Winner was Tony Ryan with 31 points. Runner up went to Tim Arnison. Balls went to John Levy, Mick McKechnie, Hugh O'Neil, Mark Ryan, Phil Cummings, Peter Griffiths, Richard Gear, Shan Foley, Wayne Boserio and Eric Whalan. Nearest to the pin on the 17th was won by Laurie Murphy.
Thirty-eight payers took to the field on Saturday, October 5, for our monthly medal Stroke event, and even though it was sunny the wind still gave them a run for their money. Grade A Winner Drew Burden took the field later in the day and came out on top with a score of -1, also being the scratch ball winner. He took out Luke Christie-Johnston whose end score was Even par. Luke might have come second for the comp but won the Monthly Medal!
Grade B Winner David Zhou came out on top with a score of +2, beating Jen Capel who got a +4. Nearest to the pins
Meat Trays Winners – Friday - Matt, (not known last name), Saturday – Kim Rawlings. Next week 12th October is Stableford. Then on Monday ... Labour Day four person Ambrose Fifty-three players took to the course. Winners- A.Yeo, H.Anderson, R.Gear & P.Marks enjoyed the sun, the beers & winning golf today! Runners up - L.Cord, B.Cord, S.Middleton & M.Campbell fell short by a very close call! Nearest to the pins - 1st - A.Yeo 7th - H. Anderson 9th - S. Higgins 17th - A.Sharp Golf has to be taken seriously. Well, maybe not always ...
