Sport isn't just the Olympics June 20, 2024 The media recently has been full of stories about who's been selected for the Paris Olympics, but there's lots of sport happening in the real world as well. Oberon Junior Hockey Association Our Oberon Junior players Addisen, Jasmin and Grace have come away with a silver medal representing Lithgow at the Under 16s state championships after going down to Sydney northern beaches 1-0 in the final. These girls can be very proud of their efforts. A silver medal is fantastic. Well done girls
Oberon Junior Rugby League A few actions shots from our under 6s and under 9s from this weekend.
Oberon Golf Club After a successful campaign in the Mixed Foursomes, Katie Graham ditched her partner and upgraded to Scott Levick who brought the goods to help them to a win in the Mixed Ambrose today. Their 70.25 confined perpetual silver medalists Sue Webb and Barry Lang to 2nd again by half a shot. Nearest to Pins for the day were Robyn Stapleton and Peter Griffiths on the 7th and Sue Webb and Barry Lang on the 17th.
After a long, cold, bitter week, it was all about dealing with the thin nasty lies and responding with pure hits. At the end of the day the last team on the course holed a birdie on the last hole in near darkness and freezing rain to grab the win in todays 2-person Ambrose competition. Barry Lang and Ian Fowler fired a nett 66 (72 gross) to win on a count back from Terry Robinson and Linore Zamparini. NTPs (in cms)
Thursday golf results Winner was John Levy with 29 points, Runner up went to Tony Ryan. Balls went to Stan Evans, Hugh O'Neil, Sean Mooney, Peter Griffiths, Richard Gear, Steve Ellery and Scott Hollihan . Nearest to the pin on the 1st was won by Kevin Hally. Oberon Senior Rugby League It wasn't a great week for either Oberon team, with both the League Tag and First Grade going down to Peak Hill Roosters. As the men played with only nine men a loss was probably predictable, but congratulations to the Tigers for running out onto the field anyway.
The Tigers meet Blayney at Oberon on Sunday, June 23.
