Just enough sport to fill the back page

June 13, 2024

It was the long weekend, so most sports took a week off. Except golfers, of course, who play any time, anywhere and in any conditions.

Oberon Golf Club

Thursday golf results! Yes we did play. The winner was Trevor Long with 29 points. Josh Glazebrook took the runner up prize! Balls went to Harold Lyme, Sean Mooney and Brendan Sanders.

A bit miserable. Photo supplied

The rain cleared (as it always does on Saturdays for golf) and that's all the evidence Phil Cummings needed to execute a warrant on 1st place in A-Grade delivering an Express-Post 42 points for the round of the day and remand Laurie Murphy into 2nd place with 41 points.

In B-Grade, the man from Foztech, Mathew Foran had a electric 39 points in slippery (but work place safe) conditions to hold off Gerard Lee who took the runner up spot (on a count back from Arron Cooper-Durant) with 36 points.

Highlights of the day -

Phil Cumming's three birdies (5/11/16) and a 1 under 35 par on the back 9 for a 75 off the stick ... yes ... we have taken a sample and yes ... double demerit points apply this long weekend.

Hamish Anderson's birdies on 2, 9 and 18. Hutcho's birdies on 3, 4 and 8. Borto's birdies on 7 and 13. Blake Miller's birdies on 3 and 5.
