Women Wolves are winners!

June 6, 2024

You have to be keen about your sport to put on shorts and a short sleeved shirt to run around at nighttime at this time of year in Oberon, but the Oberon United Football Club women did just that at the Oberon Recreation Ground on Wednesday, May 29.

The All Age Women 3rd Grade team took on the ladies from Macquarie United FC All Age Women 3rd Grade Black and came out victorious by two goals to nil.

There will be no games over the long weekend, but the junior grades will be back at the Oberon Rec Ground on Saturday, June 15, with the women meeting the Eglinton D.F.C. All Age Women 3rd Grade at 9am on Sunday, June 16, at Proctor Park in Bathurst.

Note and apology: It was only after the photographer had squeezed his car into the last available parking spot that he noticed that he had left his telephoto lens at home, so photos had to be taken with the short lens and then subjected to the features of Photoshop, Lightroom and Topaz Photo AI. Another problem that was relatively minor on this night but might be more significant as we move further into winter is that really cold weather can affect the ability of the camera's batteries to deliver charge quickly enough for rapid shooting and focusing. To put these problems into perspective, Max Dupain would have sold his soul for a camera as bad as today's Nikons or Canons.
