And the sport goes on ...

May 23, 2024

Oberon United Football Club

It was a mixed weekend for the Wolves, with the Under 13s going down 0-5 to Lithgow City Rangers and the All Age Women 3rd Grade coming out ahead of Macquarie United by 3-1. None of this bothered the really young players who just decided to have a lot of fun keeping warm in freezing conditions.

If you keep running you don't notice the cold.

Fantastic Day out at Zone 3 Showjumping for Oberon Pony Club, with Caley, Isabelle, Olivia and Michael all taking home at least one ribbon each placing in the 3x showjumping rounds. A great experience for all and all the kids said they'll be back next year. Thanks Orange Pony Club for hosting.

Two of the great supporters of the Junior League are Andrew and Renee Howard from Howard’s Auto and Electrical, who sponsor "Players of the Week" awards for various age groups. Here are this week's winners.

And lets not forget the referees, because without them there would be no games to play.

Over at the Senior League, things didn't go as planned against Canowindra, with the League Tag Ladies going down 14-24 and the men suffering 10-20. Better luck next week against Molong at Molong.

2024 Foursomes Championships have been completed. On Saturday, May 18, in conditions that could only described as a wee bit nippy, Phil Cummings and Peter Griffiths brought the heat to win with a 9.5 over par 113.5 (27 holes) to win by one and a half shots from Dave Campbell and David Zhou with 115.

On Sunday the sun came out and thawed the greens at about 11:30am just in time for the smart golfers to hit off. The last group of the day brought in the winners and runners up.

Katie Graham and Ian Fowler combined well to have the round of the weekend with one under par 69 to hold off Sue Webb and Barry Lang who had 70.5.
