The week in (junior) sport

May 2, 2024

It's all about the youngsters this week.

Oberon United Football Club

On Saturday, April 27, the Oberon United Football Club Under 13s came up against Churches United Soccer Football Club Under 13s at Proctor Park in Bathurst. The Wolves played well but went down 4-0. As it was an early match of the season it was always going to be a learning experience, and hopefully the lessons learnt in this match will lead to success in the future.

Next week's matches will again be at Proctor Park in Bathurst, returning to Oberon on May 11.

Oberon was represented at another match on the day, when Oberon High School Captain Brandon Eiler pulled on his boots to act as an official. Brandon has been learning about being a referee for about four years. It's easy to forget that sport doesn't just need players - it needs officials as well and being a referee isn't simply a matter of hanging a whistle around your neck. Brandon must be congratulated for taking on the necessary training to ensure that other youngsters can continue to play.

Oberon Junior Rugby League

The Junior Tigers took part in a mini carnival at the St Pat's field in Bathurst. This was designed as a fun day where new skills could be learnt (and old ones polished). Everyone had a great time.
