Perfect weather for sport

Oberon Golf Club

Scott Levick said "good-bye" to B-Grade with his superb +5 in this week's Par event. Welcome to A-Grade Scott! Runner up in B-Grade was Ryan Hanmer with +4. In A-Grade, former Captain Andrew Yeo cruised in for the win with +3 whilst our newly minted Captain - Scratch Miller's score remains highly classified. Blake Miller was sooo close with his +3 but lost to Andrew on a count back. Highlights of the day - a bit of a birdie feast in the absolutely still conditions with 47 players contending. Two players had a handful of birdies - Rob McG on 1/3/4/5 & 15 and Hamish on 2/3/4/8 & 13. Adrian Poulton had a carpenter's handful with 3 birdies on 5/7/16 as did Gary Richards on 2/7/18 Blake had two on 8 and 16 and Hutcho got 6 and 12.

A lot of positive feedback about the changes to the 1st / 10th tee and the wonderful views across the 18th to the 16th and down to the Lake. Don't be tempted to take a short cut down the 18th when playing the 10th. The new local rule prohibits play from the 10th tee down the 18th hole - a 2 stroke penalty applies. This is for the safety of players on the 18th hole.

And don't forget the Awards Presentation on May 4.

Cricket at Tarana

Great day of community spirit with a village cricket match between O'Connell and Hampton played at Tarana on Sunday, April 14. After being sent into bat, O'Connell notched up 151 runs after 20 overs. The match came down to the final ball, with Hampton falling 3 runs short. Of course, what is village cricket without pulled hamstrings, a not-so-friendly tiger snake and a joey thrown in!!

Oberon Tigers

The Oberon Tigers hosted the Cowra Magpies on Sunday, April 14, but the home team advantage didn't seem to apply. The League Tag Ladies went down 18-6, with the men managing a 26-all draw. Everyone is hoping for good results next week when the Tigers play the Warriors at Orange.
