Schools teach the "Three Ls" - Learning, Learning and LearningOctober 29,2026
Rockley Public School joined local schools and community members at the Wiradjuri Cultural Festival to celebrate NAIDOC and "50 Years of Deadly". It was a special opportunity for our students to learn about Wiradjuri culture, celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander achievements and strengthen connections with our community. Thank you to the organisers, performers and community members who shared their knowledge, stories and talents, making the day so memorable.
We couldn’t wipe the smiles off our faces at gymnastics! This term, our students are attending weekly gymnastics lessons at PCYC Bathurst, developing fundamental movement skills, balance and coordination while building confidence. There was plenty of enthusiasm as students had a go, practised new skills and enjoyed being active together. We can’t wait for next week!
NAIDOC Week Celebrations We celebrated NAIDOC Week. Students were engaged in a series of workshops throughout the day involving songs and stories, Johnny cake and kangaroo tasting, boomerang painting, dancing, yarning and weaving. We would like to take this opportunity to thank Mrs Higgins for preparing wonderful activities for our students about traditions, history and culture. Danni-Lee Thompson | Relieving Principal
Good Luck! Good luck to Oscar Gordon who is representing Western Region at the NSW Athletics State Championships in Sydney. We know he will represent Oberon Public and Western Region proudly. We look forward to hearing his results. Danni-Lee Thompson l Relieving Principal Science Session 5/6W have been learning about electrical circuits in science. Students put their learning into practice by building their own circuits to light a lightbulb. They then challenged themselves to see how many lightbulbs they could power using a single battery pack. Through experimenting and problem-solving, they successfully lit all 10 lightbulbs! Cameron Wright | Classroom Teacher
Best Buddies We have begun our new buddy program to assist in the transition of Year 2 into Year 3 in 2027. Year 2 made the walk all the way down to the Stage 2 classrooms, where they were partnered up with a Year 4 student. They completed tasks to learn more about each other, and even had a go at drawing their buddy! This program will be ongoing throughout term 4 and is a wonderful opportunity for Year 2 to become more comfortable with the transition into the primary end of school, as well as for the Year 4 students to develop their leadership skills moving into Year 5. Erin McMurray | Assistant Principal
Pink Up Oberon Our SRC organised Pink Up Oberon Day at school, raising funds for the McGrath Foundation. Students and staff wore pink to support breast cancer care and donated a gold coin, raising $131.15. Thank you to everyone who contributed - together we made a difference! Fiona Abbott | Deputy Principal

Bean Experiment Stage 4 MC took advantage of the beautiful spring weather to plant dwarf beans in both soil and cotton wool, with the aim of comparing their growth. We re-used drink containers for pots and plant labels, and enforced a strict three-seeds-per-pot rule. We look forward to sharing our results in the weeks to come. John Ryan and Robyn Gibbons
It was wonderful to welcome Grandparents to our morning tea celebrating Grandparents Day on Friday of week 2. Grandparents play such a valuable role in our children’s lives and the special bond shared and time spent together forms memories that last a life time.
