Tech Project!

Our Year 7 Technology students have been busy designing and building wooden smartphone amplifiers! Students developed skills in precision measuring and cutting, using tools safely, planning designs, problem-solving and working together. They also learned about sound amplification and using sustainable materials. Amazing effort from Year 7 on these creative projects!

School Captain Speeches

Last Thursday, our Year 11 Captain Nominees took the stage to deliver inspiring speeches Their passion, ideas, and dedication truly impressed everyone!

Voting took place later that same day, giving students the chance to cast their votes while the speeches were fresh in their minds. Good luck to all the candidates. Successful candidates will be announced shortly.

State Athletics!

Huge congratulations to our amazing students who competed at the State Athletics Championships in Homebush last week! Our students participated in their individual events as well as the 14-year girls relay.

Congratulations to Sherlyn Kerubo, Heidi Lewtschenko, Lexi Booth, David Gleeson, Cattleya Maloney, and Rose Christie-Johnston for their commitment and for representing our school with pride.

Special mention to Heidi and Lexi on their outstanding achievements.

Police Talk

School Liaison Police - Senior Constable S. Tabb and Senior Constable S. George attended OHS to speak with students from Year 11 to 12. The talks were informative for our students, topics covered were safe driving , safe partying , Q & A session on risks leaving school and turning 18 . OHS senior students were respectful and asked highly relevant questions to clarify challenges facing them as they move from school and into adulthood in the community.

Changes in Seasons

K-4F love to get their hands dirty! In our class we are studying the seasons of Australia and identifying the changes that happen within each. This has inspired us to create unique artworks that represent the different colours of Australia during the changes in seasons.

Congratulations to our attendance raffle winner, Aurora Gracey who came to school 90% or more of the time last fortnight, and it paid off. She received a hot dog pack to share with her family.

St Joseph's Catholic School

Around the classrooms - Year 4

Year 4 have had an exciting and jam-packed term!

A standout for students was our Excursion to Sydney. Students enjoyed visiting the Sydney Opera House, catching a ferry under the Harbour Bridge and exploring the History of Cockatoo Island!

In the classroom, year 4 have been busy mathematicians. Students have been grouping numbers, exploring division and representing numbers in different ways, using a variety of manipulatives.

Sport rotations are always a high point in our week. Students enjoy the discipline and challenges of Martial Arts, and the games, equipment and activities offered at the gym.

Rockley Public School

Stage 3 enjoyed their first day in Canberra, exploring the city’s politics, history and culture. First we visited the National Film and Sound Archive to learn about digital literacy and storytelling, then reflected on the courage and sacrifice of Australians at the Australian War Memorial. A highlight of the day was experiencing Question Time in the House of Representatives and watching a division in the Senate in parliament. We also met our Federal MP Andrew Gee and were able to ask him questions about his experiences as a politician. Certainly a big day of learning today, so we are all very excited for a fun filled smash tomorrow at Questacon and the Australian Institute of Sport tomorrow!

One of the many Perks of a Small School!

Our students enjoy the novelty of occasionally completing their Daily Review directly on the interactive whiteboard. The opportunity to make learning hands-on, engaging and tailored to our students is one of the many wonderful benefits of learning in a small-school setting. According to Toby, it was the “best day ever!”

Stage 3 Canberra (Day 2)

What a fun-filled second day! Our students had an amazing time exploring Questacon, where curiosity, discovery and plenty of hands-on learning made for a fantastic experience.

We then headed to the Australian Institute of Sport, where the students got to train like athletes and experience what it takes to reach their sporting goals.

We are incredibly grateful for our partnership with the Bathurst Small Schools, which provides our students with wonderful opportunities to learn, connect and build friendships, supporting our students’ educational, social and emotional development and wellbeing.

Rockley 175 Years

We were excited to display our artworks at the Rockley Artisan Markets on Sunday between 9am and 1pm. We also had some tables set up where you could try painting your own historic Rockley Building!

A perfect sunny Sunday at the Rockley Artisans Market to showcase our wonderful school. Our students recited two poems and proudly displayed their artworks. While also sneaking in a quick play! Thank you to staff, students and families for attending this celebration and showing your support for our school.
