Sydney Adventures to Remember!

Last Friday, our Year 3 and 4 students thoroughly enjoyed their visit to the Sydney Opera House and Cockatoo Island. For many of our students, it was their first experience travelling by both train and ferry, making the day even more exciting. It was a fantastic day, and every student is to be commended for their exemplary behaviour throughout the excursion. They represented St Joseph's wonderfully and made us all very proud. A special thank you to all the parents who were able to assist with transport. Your support was greatly appreciated and helped make the day such a success.

Creative Capture

Last week, English Studies class experimented with camera shots and angles by using the iPads to take photos and videos. We each posed and tried taking different photos so that we could see how these film elements are created. We had a lot of fun getting out of the classroom and being creative!

Library Refurbishment

Our refurbished library now has new bookshelves, comfy seating, lounges, and study nooks, creating a warm and welcoming space for all. It’s especially popular during the cooler months! Futures Unlocked

Last Thursday, selected Year 9 and 10 students attended the Tech Futures excursion at CSU. During the event, they explored various career pathways and discovered emerging future career opportunities. The students interacted with "Pancake", a robotic dog , participated in engaging "hacker" games , and enjoyed winning some exciting prizes.

Meet the Keeper

Last Wednesday, Years 9 and 10 visited Dubbo's Taronga Zoo for a behind-the-scenes "Meet the Keeper" experience! Our students were praised by staff for their exemplary behaviour. They learned firsthand from Keepers of Giant Tortoises, Snakes, Elephants, and Meerkats, discovering fascinating facts about animal care, conservation, and the training needed to work with wildlife.

Spring Lambs

Spring has sprung on the school farm, and we’re excited to welcome lots of new lambs. Our students are learning hands-on skills in animal care, teamwork and responsibility, as they help look after the lambs and their mothers. It’s a wonderful season of growth and learning for everyone.

Oberon Public School

What better way to celebrate our amazing dads, grandads and special father figures than with a delicious bacon and egg roll. Our students loved spending time with their special people, sharing a yummy breakfast and celebrating all the wonderful dads in our school community. A huge thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make our Father's Day Breakfast such a special morning.

Personal Development and Health

This term, our students from Kindergarten to Year 6 have been learning important ways to stay safe, healthy and connected. They have explored how our bodies can give us signals when something feels safe, unsafe or not quite right. Students have learned about body privacy, consent and managing big emotions. They have also practised the No-Go-Tell strategy and ways to seek help from trusted adults. Through discussions and role-play, students have explored upstander behaviours and how we can support others. They are developing their understanding of digital citizenship by making responsible choices online, such as what to share, what not to share and how to assertively say "no". I am very proud of the many thoughtful ideas our students have shared throughout these lessons.

Science Session

1/2GF were lucky enough to have Mrs Hotham join us for a fun and engaging science session! The students put their knowledge of weather and seasonal changes to the test with a hands-on experiment exploring how rain forms in clouds. Using shaving foam, blue food colouring and water, the students created their own mini cloud models and watched as the “rain” made its way through. It was a fantastic way to bring our learning to life and see the science behind weather changes in action!

Fathers Day

Wishing all of our wonderful Dads, Pops and Father Figures a great Fathers Day. A huge thank you to our Dads and Grandfathers who joined us this morning for a BBQ breakfast and game of soccer against the students, it was fantastic to see everyone having a great time.
