Legitimate search engines are blocked from indexing any images on this site but it is almost impossible to prevent web site content from being scavenged by AI robots and the only alternative is to not publish photos, so over the next few weeks I will be going through all the sports and school reports on the site and removing any photos in which kids can be identified. (This tiny and obscure site is continually trawled by AI bots, although all except ChatGPT try to remain anonymous. The papers published by Nine Entertainment are currently being hit 30,000,000 times a month by AI content thieves. It is work for several people just to try to keep up with the blocking.) It's a tragedy of our times that anything can be abused by perverts. The latest is that AI systems are being used to exploit photos of children by removing clothing or putting other heads on bodies. The world's largest pornography site, PornHub, recently banned one of their advertisers who was paying a million dollars a year to advertise AI-generated child porn. That company is Australian. Elon Musk is threatening to sue a US state because it has banned Musk's Grok AI for the ease with which it can be used to produce images of naked children. Musk claims this is an infringement of free speech, a statement that renders sane people speechless.

Health and Movement Science at CSU
Our Health and Movement Science students recently visited Charles Sturt University in Bathurst for a hands-on day exploring exercise science and biomechanics. They participated in workshops on VO₂ max testing, Wingate anaerobic tests, ECGs, and 3D motion capture technology, gaining deep insights into athletic performance and injury prevention. This experience connected classroom learning with real-world applications and showcased pathways in health, sport, and exercise science. A big thank you to CSU Bathurst for this fantastic opportunity!

Stage 5 PASS: Flag Football in Action!
Our Stage 5 PASS students have been developing their flag football skills, including passing, catching, movement, teamwork, communication and game strategies. Students recently put their learning into action by completing their practical assessment, demonstrating both individual skills and effective teamwork in game situations. It was fantastic to see their enthusiasm, effort and sportsmanship throughout the unit! Check out some of the action from their assessment!

NAIDOC Preparations
Our Aboriginal Dance Group has been busy preparing their vibrant costumes for next week's NAIDOC celebrations, which will be held on Monday after recess. Throughout the rest of the day, students will engage in a variety of activities including making Johnny cakes, exploring bush tucker , creating art , and playing traditional games.

Book Week at Hampton Public School!
What a wonderful day we had celebrating our love of books, stories and reading! Our students looked fantastic as they brought their favourite book characters to life for our Book Week Parade. There were plenty of smiles, creativity and fabulous costumes — and lots of opportunities to celebrate the joy that books bring to our little school community. A huge thank you to our families for helping make the day so special. What a wonderful way to celebrate Book Week 2026!

Stewart House Fundraiser
Our students and teachers wore their pyjamas to school to support Stewart House. Stewart House provides a free 12 day stay to approximately 1600 students every year where they can access essential health care screening. It was great to see everyone take part in this fundraiser to help children and families in need. Thank you to all who contributed a gold coin. We raised $218.00.

Learning in the library
This term, we have the excitement of Book Week so we have been looking at the shortlisted books during our library lessons. All shortlisted books are chosen by The Children’s Book Council of Australia and are written and illustrated by Australians. Our students enjoy reading these books and completing activities associated with them.

It’s a balancing act!

Around the classrooms - Year 1
What an exciting start to the second half of the year we have had so far in Year 1!
- Religious Education: stories of Joseph the Dreamer and Moses
- English: continuing to improve our writing and vocabulary through a range of text types and independent writing opportunities
- Mathematics: focusing on telling time and identifying shapes in our Fast Facts lessons, data collection and measurement
- HSIE: we have begun our Geography unit, learning more about Country and stories from the Dreaming
- Creative Arts: the Music program has been a super fun and engaging hit for all students, especially paired with the visit from the ACT Junior Concert Band last week!
- Martial Arts visits for sport with Year 2
- Book Week celebrations!
- Visits to the Oberon Library
- Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup (our class pets - Spiny Leaf Insects) have laid eggs!
We will now begin working on our research projects with Year 2 in preparation for our excursion to the Sydney Zoo in a few weeks!
