Hey, teacher, teach those kids some more

About the photos

Photos of children on the Internet
August 6, 2026 in General News, Schools and Sport

It's a tragedy of our times that anything can be abused by perverts. The latest is that AI systems are being used to exploit photos of children by removing clothing or putting other heads on bodies. The world's largest pornography site, PornHub, recently banned one of their advertisers who was paying a million dollars a year to advertise AI-generated child porn. That company is Australian. Elon Musk is threatening to sue a US state because it has banned Musk's Grok AI for the ease with which it can be used to produce images of naked children. Musk claims this is an infringement of free speech, a statement that renders sane people speechless.

Legitimate search engines are blocked from indexing any images on this site but it is almost impossible to prevent web site content from being scavenged by AI robots and the only alternative is to not publish photos, so over the next few weeks I will be going through all the sports and school reports on the site and removing any photos in which kids can be identified. (This tiny and obscure site is continually trawled by AI bots, although all except ChatGPT try to remain anonymous. The papers published by Nine Entertainment are currently being hit 30,000,000 times a month by AI content thieves. It is work for several people just to try to keep up with the blocking.)

The two articles below from The Conversation address the danger of putting your kids' photos online.

St Joseph's Catholic School

A wonderful afternoon of music!

Our students were very fortunate to visit The Malachi and enjoy a fantastic concert band performance as part of the ACT Instrumental Music Program. It was wonderful to see such a talented group of young musicians sharing their love of music and inspiring our students. What a great opportunity to experience live music performed at such a high level!

A very special thank you to Lucy and Johnny from The Malachi for generously allowing us to use their wonderful venue with such amazing acoustics!

What a fantastic experience!

Netball Gala Day

Thank you so much to all parents/carers, students and staff who took the time to stand in the cold on Tuesday at the Bathurst Netball Gala Day. It turned out to be a fantastic day with a bunch of great social games being played. There was great encouragement from our Joey’s students for each other's teams throughout the day, the improvement from Game 1 to the end was incredible and the determination from our students was a privilege to watch. Thank you to the parents who jumped in and helped umpire on the day as well! It was greatly appreciated. Let’s pray for better weather next year!

Hampton Public SChool

What a day at Hampton!

The day was all about creativity, teamwork, problem-solving and giving our students the chance to let their ideas shine!

We kicked things off with the Paper Tower Challenge, where students had to work together to design and build the tallest tower they could, using just 20 sheets of paper and masking tape! It was a fantastic opportunity to practice communication, collaboration, planning, problem-solving, perseverance and flexible thinking — especially when a carefully constructed tower suddenly decided it had had enough!

Next came Hampton’s Ultimate Playground Challenge, where students put their imaginations to work designing the ultimate playground for our school. They had to listen to and build on each other's ideas, make decisions together, consider what would make a playground fun, safe and accessible, and explain the thinking behind their designs through presenting to their peers. It was wonderful to see creativity, critical thinking, student voice, teamwork and design thinking all coming together.

We also began composing our own information reports, learning how to turn our ideas and knowledge into organised, informative writing. Students were thinking about their audience, learning about relevant information, organising their ideas and beginning to use the features of an information report to communicate clearly.

There was plenty of discussion, laughter, persistence, creative thinking and a few moments of “Hmmmm… maybe that wasn’t such a good idea!”

What I loved most was seeing our students working together across K–6, listening to each other, sharing their strengths and discovering just how much they can achieve when everyone has a voice.

A pretty special day at Hampton Public School!

Band Visit

Our school was excited to welcome the ACT Junior Concert Band for a special performance. Our students thoroughly enjoyed listening to a variety of musical pieces and observing different instruments in action, such as the clarinet, trumpet and drums. Through this engaging experience, students learnt about how each instrument contributes to the overall sound of a band as well as the importance of teamwork in musical performances.

Stage 2’s Dubbo Delight!

Stage 2 had an exciting two-day trip exploring Dubbo and its surrounds. On Day 1, after an early start, students visited the Wellington Caves to admire the unique formations, then braved the cold and rain at Old Dubbo Gaol to learn about its rich history. The day ended with a fun session of ten pin bowling. Day 2 began with an inspiring visit to the Royal Flying Doctor Visitor Experience, followed by an up-close encounter with animals at Taronga Western Plains Zoo. Throughout the trip, students impressed everyone with their excellent manners and respectful behaviour.

Is that your nest?

In Science, K/1M have been learning about animals, their needs and how we use some of their products in every day situations. We have made nests for birds and looked at how structures need to be carefully designed to protect eggs. This week, we looked at the life cycle of a chicken. Students followed the incubation process online and enjoyed seeing the fluffy chickens. They also learnt how we can use unfertilised eggs in cooking. We interviewed some keen chicken farmers from 3/4MK.
