A chance to shine

The My First Speech Competition is an exciting opportunity for young people in our school communities.

This is a national competition that welcomes students in Years 10, 11 and 12 to envision themselves as a newly elected Members of the House of Representatives and write a three minute speech, focusing on a topic they're passionate about.

One winner from each of year group will present their speech to the Speaker and members live at Parliament House, receiving an expenses-paid trip to Parliament House in Canberra, including flights and accommodation, and a prize pack valued at $250.

This is a great competition to develop as our future local leaders, learning about the work of the Australian Parliament and gaining experience in writing and public speaking.

For further information and entry submission, please visit the website: https://mfs.houseofrepresentatives.gov.au/

Entries to the My First Speech Competition close on 11.59pm AEST on Monday 20 July 2026.

Sporting Schools Coaches Aqilah, Maysa and Majed from 'Get the Kids Fit' visited our school last week for a two day intensive program. They provided a fun skill based volleyball program for students K-6. This has been funded by the Sporting Schools program. Students have had fun learning key skills, enhancing their fitness and learning about volleyball.

Hampton Public School

Our last day for term 2 was spent learning about how to care for and protect our native animals. We visited Secret Creek Wildlife Sanctuary, where we saw lyre birds, tassie devils, goannas, snakes, endangered pink-tongued lizards, emus, dingoes and Noah the baby koala! Thank you Trevor and Julie for sharing your passion with us. We came away with a greater understanding of our responsibilities for caring for native animals. After that, we burnt off some energy with a session of parkour at PCYC. Chris led us through a series of moves and challenges that saw all of our students excel. A big shout out to Paul, who is the best bus driver ever, who drives us to and from school everyday. Thanks for all that you do!

NSWCPS Golf Day - Blackheath

Well done to the three Year 5 boys - Sonny, Chaz and Jack - who represented our school at Blackheath on Tuesday and trialled for either the Mackillop or Polding teams. All three boys demonstrated excellent sportsmanship, skill and determination throughout the day, competing against some of the best young golfers in the region.

We are incredibly proud of the way they represented our school, showing commitment, resilience and a positive attitude on and off the course.

The results are in, and we would like to wish a big CONGRATULATIONS to Sonny for coming 3rd overall, which allowed him to be selected for the Polding team!

Great effort from all the boys and we can’t wait to hear how Sonny goes with the Polding team next Term.
