Beyond the Bin: Inspiring Creative Recycling A group of our talented students took creativity to new heights by turning materials that were headed for the landfill into stunning works of art! By recycling, repurposing and reusing these items, they not only demonstrated their artistic talents but also highlighted the importance of sustainability and giving new purpose to discarded materials. These incredible artworks have been featured at the local Waste 2 Art exhibition where the following artworks were successful. Winning artworks will now head to the Regional Exhibition in Broken Hill. Winners: Primary = 1st - Whale of a time – 1/2S, Kelly Sheppard | Coordinator

St Joseph's Catholic School Catholic Schools Week Catholic Schools Week is a special time in our school community, and this year we celebrate under the theme Guided by Faith, Inspired by Hope, Committed to Learning. This theme reminds us of the strong foundations that shape our students each day and the bright future they are growing towards. Throughout the week, our students have been involved in a wide range of engaging activities. Highlights have included Waste2Art class visits, infants fire safety talk, our school Spelling Bee and the CWA Speak Off, where students have had the opportunity to showcase their creativity, confidence, and communication skills. There were also opportunities to strengthen connections between students across year levels through buddy reading. Catholic Schools Week provides a wonderful balance of faith, culture, sport, learning, and fun. It is a time to celebrate all that makes our school community so special and to recognise the gifts and talents of every student.
Our K–2 students recently enjoyed a very informative visit from our local Fire Brigade. Students learnt important fire safety awareness tips, including what to do in an emergency, how firefighters help our community, and ways to stay safe at home and at school. A big thank you to the local Fire Brigade for taking the time to visit and share their knowledge and experiences with our students. We greatly appreciate their ongoing support of our St. Joseph’s school community!
