Schools join in the ANZAC spirit

April 30, 2026

St Joseph's Catholic School

Our students proudly represented our school at the ANZAC Day March, showing respect, dignity and pride as we paused to remember and honour those who have served and sacrificed for our country. We are proud of the way our students represented our school community and reflected the spirit of remembrance.

Lest we forget.

Game Day Wrap-Up

Oberon High hosted Lithgow High in their first round of the Western Volleyball Knockout, with a great day of competition across both matches. Lithgow claimed the girls’ win with a strong performance that went right down to the wire, while Oberon’s boys delivered on the home court to secure the victory in straight sets. Well done to all players for their effort and sportsmanship!

ANZAC Day Commemoration

Last Saturday, our school captains and student representatives were proudly involved in the community ANZAC Day march. Around 30 students attended, including some who represented Oberon Headquarters RFS and Oberon Junior Rugby League. Charli Annetts represented Oberon High as the flag bearer, while our captains - Reuben Marshall, Thomas Cunningham, and Sophie McMahon - laid a wreath at the cenotaph, honouring those who have served. On Tuesday, April 28, we continued our commemorations with the annual ANZAC Day school service. We were grateful for the presence of Bill Wilcox from Oberon RSL Sub-Branch, a Vietnam War veteran, who delivered the Ode. Fiona Abbott, Deputy Principal gave the commemorative address, reminding us of the sacrifices made by past and present servicemen and women, and encouraging ongoing support for those serving today.

Lest we forget.

Hampton Public School students took part in the Lowther Dawn Service, commemorating ANZAC Day. During the service, students recited a heartfelt poem, school captain Cody oversaw the flag-lowering and wreath-laying ceremony, and school leader Dom delivered an address on the importance of ANZAC Day. The P&C thanks the community for supporting the Anzac cookie fundraiser, which successfully raised $411. As per our plans, 50% of the funds will be donated to the Hampton Anzac/Memorial Committee. We appreciate the community's support and hope they enjoyed the cookies as much as our students enjoyed making them.
