Carolling Choir at Columbia On Thursday, our Kindergarten to Year 6 choir visited Columbia Aged Care to spread some Christmas cheer. They sang a number of carols as well as "Do Re Mi", which is always a crowd favourite. The students sang beautifully and there were smiles across the room from the residents. Congratulations to the choir for representing Oberon Public School with such pride! Erin McMurray | Choir Coordinator
Spectacular Scenic World Kindergarten had a wonderful time exploring Scenic World, Katoomba. Together they walked the cliff top walk around to Scenic World viewing the Three Sisters and valley below before testing out their nerves on the steepest railway in the world, down to the floor of the Jamison Valley, exploring the natural fauna and flora. Along the way they spotted some prehistoric creatures before taking a much slower rise to the top in the cable car. This was a great way to explore our local history and the importance of the Blue Mountains. Kindergarten Teachers
Festive Creations The Men's Shed in Oberon kindly invited us to bring these wonderful board cutouts to life with paint! Our creative teachers, Mrs Higgins and Mrs Sheppard have dedicated many hours designing and painting these festive masterpieces. They will be proudly displayed around the town of Oberon, spreading Christmas cheer to all. Jo'elle Frampton | Principal
Peers Supporting Peers On Tuesday last week, Year 5 participated in a training day in preparation for running our school peer support program in 2026. Over the day, students practised active listening, talked about their own and other’s character strengths, role-played different group scenarios and participated in team-based challenges. They also discussed what good leadership means and how to solve issues that can arise in group situations. Throughout the day, students supported each other with positivity, encouragement and kindness. Erin McMurray | Coordinator

St Joseph's Catholic School Year 5 Captains Speeches Congratulations to our Year 5 students who delivered thoughtful and well-prepared captain speeches today, demonstrating maturity and a genuine commitment to our school community. Our school is clearly in good hands for 2026.
A huge thank you to all families who donated Christmas hamper items to Lifechurch Oberon. Your generosity and support of those in need is greatly appreciated.
It’s hard to believe that we are just short of 2 weeks before our school year comes to a close and there are still some exciting events to take place before we can put our feet up for the Christmas break. All students are to be particularly commended for their excellent behaviour inside and outside the classrooms at present. This time of the year can often bring about varied emotions with tiredness and holidays in sight but our students are continuing to remain focussed and settled. It is lovely to see! I’m sure you’ll agree that last Thursday’s school concert was something special (and not a drop of rain in sight!) The energy, joy, and creativity on stage reflected the hard work of our students and staff. Each performance brought its own flair, and it was wonderful to see every child shine with confidence and pride. What stood out just as brightly as the talent on stage was the incredible sense of community on the lawn. Our families filled the space with warmth, support and genuine enthusiasm. The smiles, applause and encouragement created an atmosphere that reminded us how lucky we are to be part of a connected and caring school community. A huge thank-you to the students for their effort, to the staff for their dedication in preparing each item, and to our families and community members for showing up in such strong numbers. It was a wonderful celebration of creativity, teamwork, and school spirit!
On Tuesday evening, we celebrated the Graduation Dinner with our Year 6 students and their families. A special thank-you goes to Mrs Brown, whose thoughtful preparation and genuine care ensured every student felt valued and celebrated. We are incredibly proud of our graduates and wish them every success as they prepare for their next exciting chapter.
Around the Rooms - Year 5 What a wonderful and action-packed Term 4 it has been in Year 5! Students embraced every opportunity with enthusiasm. Recently we celebrated with our Leadership Day, where they explored what it means to be positive role models as they prepare for their final year of primary school. This excitement continues as some students deliver their captain speeches next week—an important milestone they’ve been working hard towards. We also enjoyed a visit from Healthy Harold, giving students valuable reminders about wellbeing and safe decision-making. Swimming lessons were another highlight, helping students build confidence in the water while having plenty of fun with their peers. The encouragement of one-another here was amazing to watch! A long awaited moment was finding out who their Kindergarten buddies are for 2026. Year 5 are eager to take on this responsibility and are looking forward to supporting the new students next year, whilst already displaying leadership and friendship with them during Term 4. The Christmas Concert last week was a Hip-Hop success. Every student performed incredibly and sang the Carols with reverence and joy. Alongside these experiences, classrooms have remained jam-packed with learning, creativity and plenty of laughter. As we head into the final weeks of the year, Year 5 are excited to celebrate their successes and finish strongly alongside their peers.
