Sensational Swimming!

Students from K-6 have started Swim School for 2 weeks of intensive swimming lessons with qualified staff from the Oberon Pool. The students are taught relevant skills including: water awareness, water confidence, stroke correction and squad. The Learn to Swim programs are vital for the safety and enjoyment of all children and allow them to participate in the many water activities available during the summer months. Students are having lots of fun while learning a life skill.

Marshmallow Maths

In 3/4S, we are sharpening our maths skills through fun, hands-on activities like building 3-dimensional models with marshmallows and toothpicks. These engaging games have bought maths concepts to life, helping us understand number, shapes, structures and spatial reasoning while fostering our creativity and teamwork. Learning has never been so sweet and exciting!

Around the rooms - Year 3

Year 3 have had a busy and exciting few weeks of learning! We have just begun our new writing unit, exploring the inspiring stories of AFL legends Adam Goodes and Michael O'Loughlin, the co-founders of the GO Foundation. Students are already deeply engaged in learning about their contributions both on and off the field.

In Mathematics, we recently wrapped up our unit on data, chance and mass. The students enjoyed hands-on tasks, surveys, and experiments that helped them apply their understanding in meaningful ways.

In Science, we have welcomed Miss Ryan, who has taken over from Miss Miller. The class has loved getting to know her, and she has brought wonderful enthusiasm and energy to our lessons.

Our two weeks of swimming were a highlight, with a strong focus on water awareness. We were so proud to see many students grow in skill and confidence throughout the program.

We are now busily preparing our Christmas item and are excited to begin the countdown to the festive season. Our class Christmas tree will go up on 1st December, and families are welcome to start bringing in a $5 Kris Kringle gift from that date.

In Religion, we have begun our unit Advent to Christmas - A Time for Responding in Love, exploring ways we can show kindness, generosity and gratitude during this special season.

We are looking forward to a joyful and productive end to the year!

And here's a statement from Rock and Water Australia:

Canobolas Rural Technology High recently hosted the Rock and Water Comprehensive Workshop conducted by National Director and Master Instructor Brian Hayes. Teachers and support staff learn this engaging physical/social program to implement in schools in many different settings.

Following the recommendations of the National Rapid Enquiry into bullying, schools are looking for engaging evidence based program to tackle the problem. Rock and Water has been doing this successfully in schools since 1999, and the program has developed in scope and focus ever since.

The particular feature of the program is the engaging mix of games and exercise that , while being a lot of fun, provoke reflection and discussion about ourselves and our relationships and interactions with others, promoting the development of social and emotional capacity.

A big thankyou to Nadia and the team at Canobolas for hosting a wonderful workshop filled with switched-on teachers from Blayney Public School, Oberon High School, Glenroi Heights Public School, Ardlethan Central School and Blayney High School.

Music Magic

On Friday, Year 8 students visited Malachi Gilmore Hall to attend the free 2025 Oberon Chamber Music Festival Community Concert . It was a fantastic experience, with many students joining in and enjoying the beautiful music of Johannes Brahms . Many thanks to Lucy and Johnny East, the Chamber Music Festival , and Oberon City Council for making this rewarding event possible.
