Fun in the Playground

Opsie Owl has been out and about in the playground this week, keeping an eye on our school handball courts. Opsie Owl has been reminding everyone of our handball rules and checking that games are being played fairly. It's been fantastic to see students from all grades enjoying their games, showing fairness and having fun together.

Teddy Bear's Picnic

Kindergarten hosted a Teddy Bear's Picnic with preschool aged children from Circle Early Learning, Oberon Children's Centre and Galloping Gumnuts. Kindergarten was very excited to welcome preschoolers into their classrooms, show them around our school and share lunch with them. This was a great opportunity to share what they like about school and things they've learnt throughout the year. Opsie Owl made a surprise visit and received a very excited welcome!

Karaoke Fundraiser

This week, SRC held a disco karaoke fundraiser during break times, giving students the chance to showcase their singing talents. It was a great opportunity for students to come together, have fun, and support our SRC. The funds raised will go towards purchasing handheld vacuums for classes to assist with quick clean up after art. Thanks to everyone's participation, the SRC successfully raised $350.

Combined Small Schools Day

Students from Hampton, Cullen Bullen, Capertee, and Megalong Schools united to participate in a STEAM day, incorporating creative arts and Citizen Science. Under the guidance of potter Pauline Wellfare, students crafted ceramic beads and year 6 plaques. Ingrid Moores from the Lithgow LEEP project led the citizen science initiative, taking students on a journey to discover local biodiversity through a bug hunt around the school grounds. Students photographed and documented their findings, with select entries to be submitted to the Lithgow City Council Spooky BioBlitz competition. Appreciation is extended to all contributors who made this day of learning a resounding success.

St Joseph's Catholic School

Kinder had a wonderful day out in Bathurst last Friday visiting The Train Museum, The Dinosaur Park and Annie's Icecream. We learned lots about transport, old and new, got to play, "find the train" around the modelled track, played harmoniously at Kids Central and the Dinosaur Park together and enjoyed a sweet ice cream treat on the way home! Thank you to Mr Brown for driving our train (bus) for us and to Mr Taylor and Mrs Rich for accompanying us on the day.
