Captivating Choir

On Tuesday, students in years 1-6 choir competed at the Bathurst Eisteddfod and performed ‘Do Re Mi' and ‘The Lion Sleeps Tonight'. While they did not place, they performed beautifully and received very warm feedback from the judges. Congratulations singing superstars!

Resilience Strategies

During PDH, students across Stage 2 and 3 have been learning about becoming more resilient. We undertook the unit ‘being resilient is brilliant' to showcase learning. Students created a poster on their favourite resilience strategy. They could choose to complete their poster on one or more of these strategies: achieving personal goals; utilising support networks; thinking flexibly; positive self-talk; five-finger breathing; mindfulness/meditation or practicing physical activity. Students across Early Stage 1 and Stage 1 have been learning about how to correctly fit a helmet and why it's important to do so. This is the start of our study on road safety where we will also be learning about how to be safe as a passenger and pedestrian.

Musical Inspiration

OHS Rock Band and Year 7 had the opportunity to participate in a performance workshop and Q&A session with local musician and songwriter Chloe Swannell, as well as country music artist Hayley Jensen. Hayley joined us via video call. Year 7 students are currently exploring Australian music and are practicing for their performance assessment due in Week 10. This workshop has equipped them with new knowledge and techniques to confidently perform.

Around the Rooms - YEAR 3

We are now just over halfway through Term 3, and Year 3 has been super busy with lots of exciting learning!

In Mathematics, we have been working hard on telling the time, learning about angles, and exploring 2D shapes. In Writing, we have just begun a brand-new unit, while in Reading we are enjoying Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes. A reminder that our Library Day is on Thursday. Everyone is welcome to borrow books, but please remember to bring a library bag to help keep them safe.

We are also lucky to have Mrs Hine helping in our classroom on Tuesdays and Fridays - thank you, Mrs Hine, your support is a big help! A big well done to all the students who have been sitting the ICAS tests, and a special congratulations to Kataya and Jasmin for representing our school at the Diocese Athletics Carnival in Dubbo. Keep up the fantastic work, Year 3 - we are achieving so much this term!
