St Joseph's Catholic School Around the rooms - Year 1 What a fantastic start to the second semester we are having in Year 1! Lots of learning, fun and celebrations to be had this term! Stage 1 have been busy practicing for the Bathurst Eisteddfod - all the students (and teachers!) are very excited to showcase some wonderful talent on the big stage in Week 6. In Visual Arts, we are exploring art from different parts of the world. So far we have looked at the Eiffel Tower in Paris, Chinese lanterns and Origami from Japan! In Mathematics, we are learning all about measurement and time, with a special visitor coming to our classroom on Friday to showcase our mathematical thinking and reasoning skills! In English, we are working on incorporating more into our writing and editing our work. In Religious Education, we have been learning about Joseph the Dreamer and other parables from the Bible.

Terrific Transition In the past week, we have started visiting our local early childhood settings to meet children before they start with us for orientation next term, and share the benefits of our program with educators. This has been a wonderful opportunity to chat with children and talk to them about ‘big school'. Some of our year 5 students have come along to share their reflections and lerning at Oberon Public School. They will welcome children to school as their buddies. We will continue visiting local preschool providers throughout term 3. If you have a child that may be starting school in 2026, please phone the school office on 6336 0093 to discuss enrolling your child. Nicola McMahon | Kindergarten Coordinator

All About Ants! 1/2T have been learning and researching fascinating facts about ants. In groups, they have created labelled diagrams, information posters and amazing artworks all about ants. The student's favourite fact about ants is that they can carry 50 times their own bodyweight…impressive! Karissa Turner | Classroom Teacher
