Oberon Public School Book Navigation This term we have been looking at library skills during library time. As part of this, Years 3-6 have been learning how to find books in our library that they require. Students have been going through their school portal and accessing the library catalogue to find relevant resources. They are learning how to locate books as well as borrow and return. Belynda Ruhan | Teacher Librarian

Oberon High School Exciting day for Oberon High School! Our student leaders are proudly participating in the Oberon Council Youth Forum today, focusing on youth engagement in our community. They are ready to share their voices and ideas on how we can foster greater involvement and connection among young people in Oberon. We're so proud of their dedication to making a positive impact!
Maths Focus Solving equations is an essential skill used in a vast number of occupations. It is important that students learn to apply their understanding throughout high school. Year 7 are currently focussed on how to expand brackets to solve equations step by step, gaining valuable skills that will serve them well in future maths challenges. Encourage your child to practice at home, and remember, practice makes perfect. Karin Mawhood | Teacher
Rocking the topic! Last Thursday, Stage 5 Science listened to a guest speaker talk about the Earth's crust, volcanoes, and earthquakes. Malte Ebach is a lecturer at UNSW and spoke with students about our changing Earth. Students had the chance to ask questions and find out about possible industry and career opportunities. Coming just before the assessment test on the topic, having an expert visit inspired a number of students. Science and Geography staff worked with Malte for the rest of the day, deepening their understanding of rocks and minerals, plate tectonics, and the need for energy. Three amazing rock kits were donated to the school, along with posters. We would like to thank TESEP for providing the visit and SMEDG for sponsoring and gifting the resource kits to schools. Heather Wiggins | HT Science
Hampton Public School Students of the Week Our students of the Week are Roman for showing perseverance in preparing an interesting speech for our Combined Small Schools Public Speaking day, and Zoey for consistently demonstrating joyous participation in all areas of her learning.
St Joseph's Catholic School Around the rooms - Year 5 It's been a busy and exciting time in Year 5, filled with lots of learning and fun! We have welcomed two new students into our class, Caitlin and Kobi. Both girls have adjusted well to life at St Joseph's and in particular Year 5. New friendships are blossoming and we are so very happy to have them here. In History, students have been exploring Australian colonisation, diving into the perspectives of both the First Nations peoples and the British settlers. They've asked thoughtful questions, analysed sources, and gained a deeper understanding of this important part of our history. As part of our English studies, we read the powerful picture book "One Small Island", which tells the story of Macquarie Island and the impact of human actions on the environment. This led to some great discussions and writing about conservation and responsibility. In Religious Education, students have been learning about the Season of Easter and the celebration of Pentecost, reflecting on the gifts of the Holy Spirit and how they can use these gifts to serve others and grow in faith. In Maths, we have been exploring angles and position, learning to identify and measure angles, describe direction, and use grid references — skills that link to both geometry and real-world problem-solving. Finally, this term students had the opportunity to experience High School at Stannies and MacKillop. Both schools provided a range of activities for our students. It was an enjoyable experience and gave the students a taste of what's to come. It's been a term of curiosity, creativity and collaboration - we are so proud of the way our Year 5 students are engaging with their learning and supporting one another as they grow.
Black Springs Public School A Small School Making a Big Difference. Black Springs Public School offers personalised learning, a sense of community, enhanced student engagement, and holistic development. We foster an intimate learning environment with great opportunities for individual attention, tailored programs, and strong teacher-parent relationships. "Black Springs Public School has been an amazing start to my daughter's school years. The commitment of the staff to our child's education is invaluable as is the personalised learning the teachers provide to suit her learning needs. My daughter often says 'we are a family', and I feel that myself when I walk through the school gates" Black Springs Public School staff.
Round and Round We Go While learning about the concepts of reduce, reuse and recycle, and changing our attitudes about things we throw away our students had a great idea to transform pre-loved toys into art and design. They made a Lego minifigure clock with a recycled plywood base for the Oberon Waste To Art Competition. Well done everyone. "We look forward to using our special clock in the classroom to practise telling the time." Black Springs Public School staff.
