Oberon High School End of Term 1 Wrap-Up - Oberon High School As Term 1 draws to a close, it's time to reflect on an incredible start to the year at Oberon High School. From major school events to exciting upgrades, this term has been full of energy, growth, and community spirit. Our students have represented us with pride at the Rural Cup, our school carnivals, and a range of sporting events. These moments have showcased not only their talents but also their resilience, teamwork, and school pride. A huge thank you to the staff who made these opportunities possible! A true highlight was our Mob Well Health Day, where students and community came together across three powerful days with NRL legends Cody Walker and Greg Inglis. Their work with students on goal setting, mental health, and being strong and proud left a lasting impact. This term, we also celebrated some outstanding cultural days, which deepened our connection with community and strengthened students' sense of identity and belonging. We're proud to have secured $18,300 in funding for a new bell and PA system, a significant improvement that will benefit everyone across the school. These upgrades, along with the introduction of a new student management system, are part of our continued focus on improving school operations and supporting student success. As we head into Term 2, I'm pleased to officially welcome Tristan Goodwin as the new Principal of Oberon High School. Tristan brings extensive experience and a passion for student learning, and I know he will be a wonderful addition to the school community. As for me, I will be finishing up my term as Acting Principal, and I want to say how much I have loved every minute of this journey. Being part of a school so rich in community and engaged in learning has been a highlight of my career, and I will treasure the memories always. I will truly miss the staff and students, and I sincerely thank everyone for your support over the past term. There are so many exciting things ahead for Oberon High School, and I'm proud to say that our plans are coming to life. Thank you all so much for making this term such a success - I leave with a full heart and endless appreciation. Wishing you all a safe and restful break. Kelly Overhall Acting Principal
Escape Room Challenge Year 7 took part in an end of term Escape Room challenge in their math classes. They were required to incorporate team building and problem solving. Each class had a winning team and all students displayed keen enthusiasm for the challenge. Karin Mawhood Teacher - Librarian
Local Job Expo On Thursday, April 10, our Year 10 students had the wonderful opportunity to meet many representatives at our local job expo. Getting that one-on-one time with real professionals can be so inspiring. It gave them a genuine feel for what different careers are out there. Kelly Overhall - Acting Principal
Hampton Public School Easter egg hunts are so much fun! Happy Easter to all our families and community. We hope you get some much needed rest.
As we reach the end of Term 1, I would like to take a moment to reflect on our achievements and look ahead to the upcoming term. This term has been filled with exciting learning opportunities, engaging activities, and a strong sense of community within our school and in partnering with our friends at other small schools. Our students have demonstrated dedication and enthusiasm in their learning, and I am proud to see them embracing the challenges of the curriculum. I would also like to extend my gratitude to our dedicated teachers and support staff, who work tirelessly to create an inclusive and supportive environment for our students. Your commitment to their growth and well-being does not go unnoticed. We are so proud of how our students and community have come together during this challenging time. Their resilience and support for one another have been truly inspiring. Many have demonstrated remarkable strength, showing empathy and kindness as they navigate the emotional and physical recovery process. The way everyone has rallied to provide assistance, encouragement, and understanding highlights the strong bonds within our community. It is a testament to the character of our students and the values we uphold as a school. Together, we have shown that with unity and support, we can overcome even the most difficult circumstances. Our thoughts are with you as you navigate this journey, and we remain committed to offering our support in any way we can. Karen Arkley-Smith, Relieving Principal Today we celebrate one of our fabulous School Learning support officer's (SLSO) birthday (although we actually celebrated last week as we are now on school holidays). We wish you a very happy birthday Sarah and hope you are celebrated today for the wonderful person you are.
