Oberon High School Shakespeare Festival Workshop We're so proud of our students who participated in the Shakespeare Festival Workshop with Come You Spirits Theatre Company. This was made possible by Oberon Rotary and they enjoyed pizza afterwards! Natasha Saboisky Drama Teacher
NSW Drama Workshop Last Monday, 12 rural teachers had a wonderful time at the Shakespeare Unlocked workshop with Come You Spirits Theatre Company. Participants were treated to a deep dive into creative ways to engage students. We also had some vivid performances that explored the impact of styles on meaning and interpretations. We thank Craig Luccarda and the Denison College of Secondary Education (Kelso Campus) for hosting the day and look forward to more professional learning opportunities. Ms Natasha Saboisky organised the workshop for Drama NSW, where she serves on the professional learning committee. Kelly Overhall - Acting Principal
PULSE Alive Four of our students had the incredible opportunity to travel to Sydney and participate in the Indigenous dance ensemble as part of PULSE Alive. This event brought together an impressive 3,500 students from schools across New South Wales. Their involvement not only allowed them to connect with their peers but to experience being part of a professional show. Tim Graham - Coordinator
What an Incredible Day for Our School Community! On Tuesday, March 25, we were absolutely thrilled to host the Rural Adversity Mental Health Program (RAMHP) Mob Well Wellbeing Day featuring NRL legends Greg Inglis and Cody Walker! Their powerful messages about resilience, mental health, and seeking support resonated deeply with our students, staff, and community. The day was a huge success, filled with inspiring conversations, engaging activities, and a strong sense of connection. It was incredible to see our students and community members come together to break down stigmas around mental health and learn strategies to support their own wellbeing. A huge thank you to RAMHP, Family First Credit Union, Greg Inglis, Cody Walker, The Goanna academy and all our incredible staff and supporters who made this day possible. Events like these remind us that mental health matters, support is always available, and together, we are stronger.
Hampton Public School Percussion today with Mr Armstrong…learning one beat rolls, using our right and left hands! Soon we'll be able to drum roll faster than Mr Armstrong.
We wished a very happy birthday to Mrs Healey. Mrs Healey works very hard at Hampton with her teaching and planning, and coordinating all our sporting opportunities. This was a great chance to thank her for her wonderful work!
Congratulations to our new Students of the Week - Ben and Roman. Both boys have been working very hard in class with their work. Ben was very keen to tell me how he'd used a preposition in his writing this week, and Roman has been writing a terrific story. It's also been a pleasure to see the effort Ben and Roman have been putting into their reading and maths. Well done, boys!
For our Harmony Day last week, we discussed the theme that 'Everyone Belongs' and how important kind words are in making people feel welcome. We set up a classroom 'Kindness Box' and students wrote a letter with kind words for a fellow class member. These kind words certainly made us all feel that we are a welcome member of the Hampton school team.
On March 26 Rachel and Ann from Lithgow Transformation Hub came along to Hampton to talk all about plastic recycling. We looked at the different types of plastic and sorted them. Then we put on our goggles and gloves and were able to do some recycling ourselves. First we ground up some plastic lids. We put the pieces into a second machine which heated and extruded the plastic into a mould. It was hard work turning the handle! The end result was a shiny, green carabinar clip! Thanks to Rachel, Ann and Lithgow Transformation Hub for this great lesson.
We celebrated Mrs Cios' birthday with some yummy cake and plenty of smiles. Many happy returns, Mrs Cios!
Niamh attended the GRIP leadership day in Bathurst together with students from Cullen Bullen, Megalong and Capertee. They all learnt about the responsibilities of student leadership and the importance of leadership through friendship. Thanks to Mrs Healey for her organisation of the day!
St Joseph's Catholic School It has been a busy start to the year for Year 4. The students are keen workers and love to learn new concepts. In Mathematics the children are clever mathematicians that enjoy the daily routine of learning their timetables and completing daily mentals. A highlight has been looking at Chance and Data and transferring survey data into Kidszone Create a Graph on their chromebooks. This term our novel study is "The Tuckshop Kid" by Pat Flynn. It is a humorous narrative about a character called Matt and how he navigates his life at school and home. A winning novel for all our students, always so enthusiastic to read a chapter or two! In Science and Technology students are learning to be Botanists while looking at the topic "Plants - Living Things". Our experiment of growing cress seeds in cups is both exciting and challenging. We can't wait to see who grows the most watercress. In History we are looking at the focus area - History uses sources to construct narratives of the past. The students have learnt about the importance of being an inquisitive Historian and how discovering things about the past is important for our future. We can't wait to learn more about Indigenous and Torres Strait Islander People. In Music we have been exploring how we can respond to music, exploring the musical elements as well as composing our own rhythms. Our artistic flair is developing and we have definitely loved watching our room transform into an art gallery.
HARMONY DAY 2025 Everyone belongs at St Joseph's

Harmony Week Everyone Belongs! Harmony Week celebrates Australia's cultural diversity and the inclusivity, respect and sense of belonging that everyone should experience. This week students celebrated by working together as a whole school team to create a mosaic. The school has collaboratively created a harmony garden representing 'Unity in Diversity' within our school. Today students also marked Harmony Week by dressing in orange or cultural clothing to acknowledge this harmony and inclusivity. Tamara Ballas l Harmony Day Coordinator
Mobwell Program - Oberon High School Our indigenous students had the opportunity to learn important topics of mental health while incorporating Aboriginal culture in a hands-on and engaging way with the MOBWELL – Program with The Goanna Academy hosted by Greg Inglis with special guest Cody Walker. Both men engaged the students with stories of their trials and tribulations during their NRL careers. After lunch the girls spent time weaving using reeds from local plants, creating beautiful bracelets and jellyfish while learning about the customs of these traditions in Aboriginal culture from visiting Elders. The boys spent time with Greg and Cody connecting and getting creative by painting their own boomerangs whilst gaining insight into the cultural significance of these tools. It was an unforgettable experience offering the students a chance to appreciate the depth of Aboriginal culture while fostering conversations around mental health and self-expression. Sandie Higgins | Aboriginal Education Committee Leader
