Gases Matter!

5/6W have been exploring the mysteries of gases in our Science and Technology lesson. To prove that air takes up space, students conducted an experiment where they submerged a cup - with a tissue inside - into water. But did the tissue get wet? Not at all! Why? Because the air trapped in the cup created an invisible barrier, keeping the water out.

Magnificent Mathematicians

This week 1/2T have been learning about the chance of an event happening. Students have been using a number of strategies involving probability to indicate the likelihood if an event "will happen", "might happen" or "won't happen".

Flag Donation

At last Friday's assembly, our school was honored to receive a new Australian flag, donated by our Member for Calare, Mr Andrew Gee. This gift is a symbol of national pride and unity and we appreciate the support for our school community. Thank you for this generous contribution.

OPS are encouraging students to stay on top of their homework with a fun incentive. Those who complete all their homework on time will go into the draw to win a special prize. It’s a great way to stay motivated, build good study habits and be rewarded for hard work. Keep up the effort, and you might be our next winner!

First Bush School of the year!

K-2 took a wonderful stroll through the forest, learning about our past and embracing our natural world. Pictured here giving a big old tree a hug. Connection to country, such an important aspect of learning at O'Connell PS.
