O'Connell Public School Jillaroo Visit On Monday we were lucky to have current Jillaroo and O'Connell PS Alumna Jakiya Whitfeld visit us and chat with the students about her journey from primary school to elite sport. The kids had some great questions for her and showed great interest in her story. The key take-away was "no matter what you choose to do, keep at it and never give up." O'Connell PS Staff & Students

Oberon High School Billy Cart Derby Last Friday was the completion of a unit where students worked in groups to design and build a Billy Cart which would be raced in a time trial event at the Oberon Common. Students also had to think about the presentation and theme for their cart as well as dressing up and performing as part of the competition. The Technology Mandatory classes in Yr 8 set up the race rules, track features of the event and managed the presentation on the day. Overall Champions: 'PH Motorsports' were Jamie Bayliss, Lucas Holland, Indiana Williams and Kyle Odobasic. Best Presented Award: 'Princesses' were Meg Kirby, Carly Fagg, Ella Perrin, Jai Stanley and Madison Gehrig-Fraser. A great day was had by all and thanks to everyone who helped. Also on the day saw Mr David Boyd attend his last Billy Cart Bash as he is hanging up his helmet and he received the Golden Billy Cart. Mark Armstrong - Coordinator
Italian Exchange Elisa De Leonardis, our Year 10 exchange student from Gessate, Italy, has been visiting Oberon High School for five months. Back home, she attends school in Milan. Elisa finds Oberon similar to her hometown, as it has a close-knit, friendly feel. She's also enjoying Australia's unique landscape and wildlife, noting how "wild and free" everything feels here. Just this morning, she had a memorable experience hand-feeding a young joey named AJ and loves spotting kangaroos outside her bedroom window. Elisa will be missed when she returns to her home in a few weeks' time. Heather Wiggins - Head Teacher Rlg
