Hands-on learning in 2/5W

In 2/5W we've been diving into nature, sustainability and the amazing world of living creatures in our science and English units. Our class has embraced hands-on learning by creating our own vibrant garden beds, brimming with beans, marigolds, lilies and many other plants. We have also been composting our food waste from fruit breaks and this has resulted in a thriving worm farm and to top it off, we've recently welcomed adorable baby chickens into our classroom!

To War!

Year 7 students have been studying Ancient Rome throughout the term, including the military tactics which made them so successful. They put this knowledge into practice by using formations like the Testudo (tortoise) and shield wall against the "barbarian hordes" in a practical demonstration last Friday. The lesson was a hit with all students who loved being able to bring learning outside the classroom.

Junior AECG Ball Awards Night

Last Wednesday night we attended the AECG Junior Ball and it was excellent to see Aboriginal students excel in the Bathurst and wider region. Martika Davies was awarded with a certificate presented by Ms Abbott to congratulate her organisational skills for leading Junior AECG in 2024 at Oberon High as well as for her continuing studies in the Higher School Certificate. The AECG Junior Ball was held at Bathurst RSL club and it is an event that we intend to continue to be involved in. It was a fun night out and our students looked classy.

Around the Rooms - Year 5

As the weather warms up, Year 5 has been taking full advantage of the beautiful spaces around our school. It's been wonderful to see the students enjoying the outdoors and engaging in their activities in a vibrant setting. Friendships are flourishing, and the positive social atmosphere is contributing to a great learning environment.

We had a fantastic time at the La Salle Taster Day in Lithgow. It was a memorable event that provided new experiences and allowed students to explore and enjoy different activities.

In our mathematics classes, we've been diving into innovative teaching methods through the "Building Thinking Classrooms" approach by maths guru Peter Liljedahl. This has brought a fresh and dynamic way of learning to our mathematics lessons, encouraging critical thinking, collaboration and problem-solving skills.

Our sport rotations are in full swing, with students participating in a variety of physical activities. It's been great to see them embracing new sports, developing their skills, and enjoying the benefits of staying healthy and active.

Overall, it's been a term full of growth, learning, and fun, and we're looking forward to what the rest of the year will bring!
