Back from the school holidays

July 25, 2024

As all the schools have been having a break, there's not a lot to report.

Oberon Public School

Good Luck!

Good luck to Maisy Christie-Johnston who is representing Western Region at the NSW Cross Country State Championships at the Sydney Equestrian Centre. We know you will represent Oberon Public and Western Region proudly. We look forward to hearing the results.

NAIDOC Week Celebrations

We celebrated NAIDOC Week with the theme - Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud and Proud. We welcomed special guests Jordan Boney, Josh, Percy Raveneau and Peter Dykes who shared their cultural knowledge with our students, staff and families. They worked with students throughout the day making our occasion enriching and powerful for the students. Our whole school assembly started with a smoking ceremony and then our cultural dance group performed a traditional dance. Students were engaged in a series of workshops throughout the day involving songs and stories, cooking Johnny cakes, kangaroo tasting, boomerang painting, dancing, yarning and weaving. We would like to take this opportunity to thank our special guests for sharing their knowledge about traditions, history and elders of this land.

Staff Development Day

Our staff completed their annual Anaphylaxis and CPR course. This is a mandatory requirement by NSW Department of Education every year to ensure that we are all able to respond quickly and effectively in an emergency and optimise the outcome. Thank you to our trainer, Mr Andrew Mitton.

Dedicated Drama Students

In the first week of the holidays, Stage 6 Drama students attended school to practise their HSC group performance and monologues. They reworked the beginning of their group performance, in preparation for their HSC Showcase in Week 3, and practised their monologues. Mrs Nunn also gave up her holiday time to support Stage 6 Drama. Stage 6 Drama are to be commended for their efforts!
