Never a dull moment at any of Oberon's schools April 11, 2024 Oberon High School Volleyball Victory Our boys and girls teams competed today against Lithgow High School. Both our boys and girls team dominated the court and emerged victorious, winning 2 sets to nil. Our students demonstrated true sportsmanship throughout the day and they will compete in the knockout next term at the Bathurst Indoor Sports Stadium. Ebony Fenton and Andrew Mitton - Team Coaches
Rural Cup On Tuesday, April 9, students competed in the first round of Rural Cup for 2024 against Canowindra. Students from both schools participated in a variety of games on the day, including badminton, soccer, league, touch football, super quiz, chess, basketball, volleyball, softball, teeball, league tag, netball, table tennis and ultimate frisbee. Oberon Public School Amazing Artefacts Stage 1 students have been learning about "What Artefacts Are". They have discovered old buildings and classrooms, observing what they tell us about the past. To further their knowledge, we took a virtual tour to Port Arthur - Tasmania, to see what it was like to live as a convict. Students have enjoyed analysing artefacts. Jake Turnbull l History Teacher
Drawing inspiration from the artworks of Franz Marc, students in 3/4S have enjoyed creating colourful artworks. We explored and discussed different artistic movements including cubism, abstract and expressionism. The students focused on aspects such as light, tone, line and colour when creating their artworks. Western Success On Monday, April 8, four students travelled to Parkes to represent Bathurst district at the Western Region rugby league trials. Congratulations to Marshall Taylor who was selected in the under 12s open team and will now participate in the NSW PSSA State Championships carnival in June. Congratulations also to Tye Newstead who was selected in the under 11s Western Region team and will now also compete at the NSW PSSA Under 11s State Championships. Well done boys! St Joseph's Catholic School Let the music move you On Monday, April 8, our students enjoyed a fantastic visiting performance which focused on how music and movement are linked. The show was very engaging and interactive with a number of students sharing their talents. The show also exposed students to a variety of musical genres.
In English this term Year 5 have been working on creating imaginative texts. They have been learning how to use figurative language and more complex structures to improve their writing. They have learnt how we can utilise the seven steps to writing success to structure our texts into more advanced writing pieces. In mathematics we are learning about 3D objects. We are busy learning about the properties of three-dimensional objects, their nets and connecting them to their 2D shapes. At the end of the unit we will complete a post assessment to recognise how we have developed throughout the unit.
Cross Country Congratulations to all students who braved the weather on Tuesday, April 9, to compete at our Cross Country competition.
