Letter - Oberon's heritage

The Editor,

This week's  "Oberon Matters" was a wonderful look back at a fantastic heritage event that almost consumed the village of Oberon during February for more than ten years.

The video offered a kaleidoscope of events within the event and was a exciting spectacle for all who attended and a great nostalgic video to watch.

Sadly, more and more regulations surrounding this event will make it next to impossible to stage again any time soon.

However Oberon's heritage is continuing with the Oberon Tarana Heritage Railway Inc rebuilding the Tarana - Oberon branch line and restoring heritage railway rolling stock and showcasing our village once again to those who enjoyed the Heritage Fair.

Next door, the Oberon Museum is rebuilding after a period of indifferent management and is now a showcase of local history.

Historic and classic vehicles and anything of a collectible nature, Oberon Heritage and Collectors Club Inc. is still providing for those interests and they present the occasional event.

Oberon indeed is slowly becoming a mecca for historic and heritage machinery.
