Letter - NAB bank closure May 2, 2024 The Editor, Dear Sir, I would like to comment on the article in Oberon Matters entitled "Goodbye NAB. It was almost nice knowing you." dated 25th April 2024. I too was a customer of the NAB Oberon Branch NSW. and was quite disgusted to hear of the branch closure. I contacted NAB on a number of occasions expressing my disgust that the branch was about to close and it seemed to me that ordinary customers didn't matter. Each time the bank acknowledged receipt of my complaints and simply advised that the case was closed; no contact, just crickets. To my astonishment, I too received a "Hi David" letter from the NAB Group Chief Executive Officer telling me about the bank's proud 160 years of being in existence. I won't call it years of service for there is none today. He told me in that letter that the bank wants to help our communities prosper.......relationships are at the core of NAB. He went on to say he sees the importance of meeting and listening to customers. He says he will continue to listen to customers feedback and take action to make the bank better. All this within a week or so of closing the Oberon branch! How crass of this man to utter these hollow words; he has less experience working for NAB than I have been a customer. How utterly ignorant is he of his customers when he says he is listening while ignoring my protestations that Oberon will be left without NAB services in the future and, quite frankly, it seems he doesn't give a rats about helping the community prosper. It's most likely that NAB country squires, large businesses and people of wealth will still receive fawning visits from the Regional Manager, but whose looking after the little person? The NAB Group Chief Executive Officer obviously isn't going to look after us......relationships are at the core of the NAB. I call it out for what it is - BULL. Having said the forgoing, I would like to thank the girls who were the face of the Oberon Branch and represented the local branch with a smile and a cheery "thank you" right up until the final moment. I wish them well and hope the NAB fulfills the promises made to them for future employment. It would have been nice if the CEO of NAB listened to what his customers wanted for once. I have my doubts that the Group Chief Executive Hollowman really cares. Yours Dave McMurray
