A great big thank you!

I want to say a great big "Thank You" for the support that this site has been getting since it was launched on February 1 this year. The number of visitors keeps going up, although it will take some time before a regular pattern of visits matches the schedule of updates. But it will come. I ran an online magazine for over twenty years and for the first year or so I think I was the only person reading it. It eventually attracted over 3,000 visitors every day (that's a million per year!), but you need patience in this game. (I should point out that that site had an international audience and addressed some controversial subjects, so I don't expect a site devoted to Oberon will ever match its popularity.)

This site has an associated Facebook page that is also gathering likers and followers at an encouraging rate. Because I don't feel the need to give Facebook the complete content (their Terms and Conditions mean they own everything posted there and can do what they want with it without paying anything), the Facebook page just contains links to this site and maybe some late breaking news from around the region. It's a marketing tool, but if it brings people here to read the real content then it's doing its job.

So once again, thank you for coming here, reading the local news and making it worthwhile to keep the site going. I've had some indications in the last few days that not everyone wishes this venture well, but in the words of an old song "You can't please everyone so you've got to please yourself".
