Science Week comes to OberonAugust 20, 2026
National Science Week is Australia's annual celebration of science and technology. Running each year in August, it features more than 2,000 events around Australia, including those delivered by universities, schools, research institutions, libraries, museums and science centres. In 2026 it touched down in Oberon with a display and talks at the Malachi Gilmore Hall organised by the Oberon Citizen Science Network (OCSN). In another life, Oberon Matters has participated in Science Week several times over the years, as a speaker, exhibitor (and once as part of a theatrical performance to teach kids about science), so it was only natural to put on a science-themed t-shirt and head out to point the camera at things.
And why is telling people about science
important?
As well as exhibits showing what's happening with science in the area there were presentations by some scientists:
Videos of the presentations will be here as soon as they become available.
