Science comes to Oberon

Are you interested in science? If not, you should be. National Science Week runs from August 15 to 23 and this year part of it is happening in Oberon. The Oberon Citizen Science Network will be celebrating at the Malachi Gilmore Hall on Saturday, August 15.
As well as exhibits showing what's happening with science in the area there will be presentations by some scientists (but you will need to book a place):
- Dr Ana Gracanin - Greater gliders: ecology and conservation
- Jackson Wilburn Wilkes - The effects of climate change on platypus populations in the Fish and Duckmaloi Rivers
- Malan Bothma - The effects of wind farms on Australian bird species
- Alan Sheehan - Eco-acoustics for biodiversity assessment
- Dr Anne Musser - Biodiversity at Jenolan Karst Conservation Reserve
The event runs from10am to 4pm, and you can buy lunch there for $10.
This is an event that is well worth attending. I've been a speaker at several Science Week events in the past and also helped out with exhibits and there's always something to learn and enjoy.
National Science Week is Australia's annual celebration of science and technology.
Running each year in August, it features more than 2,000 events around Australia, including those delivered by universities, schools, research institutions, libraries, museums and science centres.
