Oberon Sports Complex
Club Management - Signed, Sealed and Delivered

Monday 29 June 2026

Following its Ordinary Meeting on 21 October 2025, Oberon Council confirmed it had accepted the  Expression of Interest from the Oberon Rugby Leagues Club to manage club operations at the newly  constructed Oberon Sports Complex.

Council is pleased to announce that today, the formal agreement has been signed, marking a  significant milestone in activating this state-of-the-art facility. The agreement paves the way for the  Club's transition to the new complex in the near future and signals the beginning of an exciting new  chapter for the Oberon community.

The agreement includes a five plus five year lease, providing long-term security for the Club while  supporting what is widely recognised as a once-in-a-generation investment in local sporting and  community infrastructure.

Under the agreement, the Oberon Rugby Leagues Club will deliver hospitality services, including bar  and restaurant operations, creating a vibrant and inclusive social hub within the complex, which will be  known as "Club Oberon". The sporting fields and wider facility will remain under the management of  Oberon Council, ensuring broad access and benefit for the entire community.

Council will continue to work closely with the Club throughout the transition and into ongoing  operations to ensure a successful opening and the long-term sustainability of the complex as a key  community asset.

Mayor Andrew McKibbin welcomed the  partnership, saying:

"This partnership brings together Oberon's proud sporting heritage with  professional hospitality expertise. It  creates a fantastic opportunity to deliver a vibrant and inclusive space where our community can connect, celebrate and  thrive."

Oberon Leagues Club Representatives Ian Chjristie-Johnston, Vanessa Booth and Lenore Zamparini signing the document with Mayor Andrew McKibbin and Genera! Manager Gary Wallace

Oberon Leagues Club President, Lenore Zamporini, said the agreement represents a significant new chapter:

"Today’s agreement marks a fresh start for our proud and historic Club. It secures our long-term future  in a modern, purpose-built facility, and we look forward to working with Council and local sporting  groups to ensure the complex is a well-used and valued community hub for many years to come."

Another Major Milestone for Oberon Leagues Club

Today marks another significant step forward in our journey, with Oberon Council officially announcing that the Management Agreement has now been signed for the Oberon Sports Complex.

This has been a long process, with plenty of hard work, meetings and dedication from many people behind the scenes. While the road hasn't always been easy, we're incredibly excited to finally be seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.

Soon, we'll be welcoming our members and the wider community to new venue - a modern, vibrant venue that will become a place where people can come together to enjoy great hospitality, support local sport, celebrate special occasions and create lasting memories.

Our President and Vice President recently took the opportunity to admire the incredible new grounds, and today we also saw another exciting piece of the puzzle arrive with the delivery of our new chairs. Every day brings us one step closer to opening our doors!

We'd like to thank Oberon Council for their ongoing support throughout this journey, along with everyone who has believed in the vision and shown patience along the way.

We can't wait to share more updates with you over the coming weeks as we prepare for this exciting new chapter.

The countdown is on... and Club Oberon is nearly here!
