April 30, 2026

On the day after ANZAC Day, Black Springs got together for a rededication of the War Memorial in the Black Springs Recreation Reserve. Speeches and prayers were given by Member for Bathurst, Paul Toole, Member for Calare Andrew Gee, Oberon Mayor Andrew McKibbin, the Reverend Andrew Sempell and members of local groups, who also laid wreaths at the memorial.

As well as he rededication of the memorial, several metal sculptures were unveiled. Made by Oberon Engineering, they provide a lasting reminder of what the memorial is all about.

Events like this don't happen by themselves, and Michelle Swaan and her committee must be congratulated and thanked for the work put in to organising both the day and the sculptures. Thanks must also go to Bill Wilcox and Neville Stapleton from the Oberon RSL Sub-branch, Reverend Andrew Sempell and the other dignitaries who attended, to everyone who took time out from their Sunday to come along and contribute to the day and the cooks who provided the excellent lunch at the hall afterwards.
