Oberon 2026 Autumn Garden Showcase

April 23, 2026

It's autumn, so it's time again for the Oberon & District Garden Club to open up some gardens to the public. Oberon Matters got to two gardens that are new this year and one that has been around for a long time and is featured every year.

Beyond Avalon

There's a real surprise hidden away in Black Springs. It's Rosalie Pollock's wonderful garden named "Beyond Avalon".

The size and layout of the garden make it easy to get lost wandering around, and the sheer scale of it make it easy to forget that it's the work of a single person. The first impression is that there are trees everywhere but flowers keep appearing to surprise visitors.

Rosalie started creating the garden about 20 years ago. "It was just a paddock with a few gum trees, which I hate," she said. "I have a passion for gardening and the time to do it, so I decided to transform the block."

Valley View Flower Farm

As this is a commercial flower nursery it's what you would expect a flower garden to be - lots of flowers, lots of beds planted out and lots of plants for sale. It's a bit remote out at the end of a dirt road at Wisemans Creek but they can usually be found at markets around town or via their web site.

And the name? The views from the place are wonderful.

Essington Park

This is not a conventional garden in the sense of lots of flower beds. It takes the form of landscaping around the historic buildings on the property and coincidentally augments the views across the nearby country.

You can find out more at their web site.
