At the Ordinary Council Meeting held on December 16 Councillor Clive McCarthy was recognised for his 30 years of continuous service as a Councillor for the Oberon Local Government area.

Councillor Clive McCarthy was first elected to Oberon Council on 25 September 1995, marking the beginning of an outstanding and ongoing period of service. He also served a Deputy Mayor from September 2000 to September 2001.

Throughout his extensive tenure, Councillor McCarthy has contributed significantly across a wide range of committees and community initiatives. He has been a long-term member of the Independent Living Units Panel, and for many years served as Chair of the Heritage Committee and Chair of the Hazelgrove Public School Reserve Committee, reflecting his commitment to preserving local heritage and supporting community governance.

In recent years, Clr McCarthy has continued to play a pivotal role in major strategic projects, including the implementation of the Oberon Common Master Plan and the Oberon Multi-Purpose Sports Complex Development. His involvement has been instrumental in ensuring projects progress in line with the community’s long-term vision.

Clr McCarthy's decades of continuous service, reaffirmed by the community through his re-election, stand as a testament to the trust and respect he has earned. We thank Councillor McCarthy for his unwavering dedication to Oberon.
